BEST BET: RACE 1, CRUMLIN QUEEN

FIRST RACE

CRUMLIN QUEEN ran evenly for third in her comeback, and was a flat fifth after a wide trip over an inside-favoring track most recently. She’s cutting back from seven to six furlongs, after working a fast five-eighths, and should make some noise at a square price. TETHRA’S MAGIC possesses the highest recent Beyers on the page. She got away slowly before saving ground en route to finishing fifth last time out in the restricted Lady Angela Stakes. RED EXPLOSION figures to be a speed threat.

SECOND RACE

Casse cutbacks are among my favorite plays, and REIMBURSE is shortening up from a mile at Churchill to six and a half furlongs in this $32K seller. The closer has ample speed to chase in her first try under the crafty Boulanger. WOVEN LADY came wide for third over an inside-biased track in her second race off the bench in a $25K sprint on the Tapeta. Turf is arguably her preferred footing. Stakes winner SILENT TREAT is descending to a new low, and has obviously seen better days. She could round out the tri if cranked up off the layoff.

THIRD RACE

CORRYVRECHAN is adding Lasix for the drop from $40K, and could break through with a less-aggressive approach compared to what he displayed in his comeback. BEST OF THE BOBS is capable of picking up some of the pieces in his third start off the sidelines. TUCKER’S TOWN shook loose on the lead over an anti-speed track before fading to fifth when returning from a year and a half layoff May 17, a race he had to have needed.

FOURTH RACE

SOLON’S WARNING broke inward from the one-hole before rushing up to duel up front through a quick early pace before tiring in her $40K comeback May 28. The daughter of Stormy Atlantic should be more more effective in this $20K NW2 tilt, with good turf rider Moran taking over. VIVA FOREVER defeated three next-out winners last time while graduating on the Tapeta over $16K maidens. She doesn’t have much turf breeding, but the daughter of Milwaukee Brew shouldn’t mind moving out from a sprint to a route. NINETEEN SIXTEEN deserves another chance on the lawn because of her solid turf pedigree. Use MAGIC SKYS on the bottom of vertical wagers.

FIFTH RACE

WHO’S GOT IT parlayed a stalking trip into a narrow loss in an identical spot May 14, which came on the heels of a daylight score over NW2 OS allowance stock. He rarely runs a bad one, and seems poised to hang up an 80+ Beyer, which he’s done once before. SUNNY’S RAINBOW, another DePaulo charge, finished a lapped-on third behind his stablemate after closing four-wide in the aforementioned event. BUTLER’S PICK, who dusted easier following a six-month absence May 21, is a good fit from a Beyer perspective. CHIRICAHUA SIGNAL is a must-use underneath in all exotics.

SIXTH RACE

SECRET PASSAGE landed on the outer edges behind the talented Mor Spirit two back in the $250K Essex ‘cap on the dirt at Oaklawn, but his local debut on the Tapeta wasn’t anything to write home about. The son of Curlin is out of a good producer, who’s dropped eight turf winners from 10 starters, and could find his calling on the grass. CONQUEST BOOGALOO ended a long drought when he defeated second-level allowance opposition on the Tapeta three weeks ago. His turf record includes a second in the Breeders’ Stakes, and a third in the Cup and Saucer Stakes. BANGKOK beat $40K conditioned claimers on the grass when returning from a long layoff last June. He capped his fruitful 2016 campaign by upsetting Melmich in the G3 Valedictory on the main track.

SEVENTH RACE

GAMBLE’S GHOST won the G3 Selene going a mile and a sixteenth on the Tapeta last year, before

losing the WO Oaks by a nose after a troubled trip. She flattened out to fourth in her seven-furlong comeback on the dirt at Keeneland, from which victorious Sweetgrass exited to finish fourth in a G1 and then third in a G3. That race should set her up nicely for the stretchout in this N2X. Following back-to-back thirds sprinting, the speedy KASUGA figures to shake loss early and could make most of the running. MEADOW ROSE has worked impressively on the Tapeta since running second in a March 23 optional event at Gulfstream, from which the sharp winner exited to strike again in N3X company.

EIGHTH RACE

LAST WAN took the long way home after breaking outward en route to finishing six lengths back in ninth among three next-out winners going short April 30. The Wando gelding is experimenting on the grass with a good pedigree for the surface, and shouldn’t mind moving out to a route. Professional maiden GREENFIELD placed in five of his seven turf outings. He’s shedding the hood for his second start off the bench, while retaining the hot grass rider Mosqueira. LASER FOCUS is tagged for the first time following a sabbatical. GIZMO JONES is a half-brother to turf stakes winner Mr. Online (by Silent Name), but his successful sire, Giant Gizmo, is 0 for 54 with progeny making their first start on the grass.
