BEST BET: RACE 10, TIMELINE

FIRST RACE

DON’S ESCAPADE sure sat a nice trip in that win last time in her first start off the layoff but she could be ideally spotted behind the speeds once again today, and that should enable her to run back to that effort in her first start off the claim; looking for her 5th career win over this strip. STARSHIP PLEASANT is one of the prospective speeds; she was well off the board in an abbreviated sprint in her latest but she figures to be more aggressively handled in the opening stages today. GLOTONA AGAIN was no threat to the top pick in her return from a short freshening but she could improve some in her 2nd start back.

SECOND RACE

OK KID is at her lowest level yet and she fits well here based on her figures; could fall into a perfect trip behind likely speeds BANKS PROMISE and STEVENS IN TROUBLE, who also appear to be her main rivals. BANKS PROMISE was caught up in a duel in her most recent but if she can shake loose of STEVENS IN TROUBLE easily enough she could prove tough to catch. The latter has speed and the rail and will be a factor from the start.

THIRD RACE

SAHARA GOAL was an easy winner against maiden claimers in his latest when he was able to sit off the pace and make one run; plenty of speed to set him up for a late run given the makeup of this field and with a clean trip behind a contested pace he may be able to repeat in his first start vs. winners. OUR SARGE was caught up in a pace battle last time but he rated effectively two back; a trip similar to that one would make him tough late. HIGH FIVE COTTON is one of several speeds in here, and that could mean he’s caught up in a race-long duel, but he merits respect based on his best figures.

FOURTH RACE

SALT IT HERE appears to be the clear speed in this otherwise paceless sprint and she will be a handful if she’s able to shake loose and back down the early fractions; she hasn’t won since her debut but she was caught up in duels in several of those losses. KARMAKAZE looms the 2nd speed in the field, and he could get first run at the top pick with blinkers added today; nice work since her latest, presumably with the new equipment added. DIAMOND MARKET was on the turf last time but he’s probably better on this surface; threat if ready off the bench.

FIFTH RACE

GIO DUDE and FIRENZE FIRE are a pair of firsters hailing from the barn of Jason Servis, and both have work tabs that hint at ability; the former is kin to Souper Colossal, who won his own debut before going on to win the Sapling and the Tyro over this track as a 2-year-old, while the latter is by a young sire who had success at Monmouth and won his first career start as a juvenile. PHONEMYPOSSEAGAIN is obviously the one to beat after running 2nd in his debut; clearly dangerous, though he is likely to be overbet against this largely inexperienced bunch.

SIXTH RACE

FAIRBANKS E JET not only exits sprints but five of his last six tries were races with a fair amount of speed and which set up well for closers, as evidenced by the “C” in his recent DRF running lines; he gets the rail and stretches out today ad he figures to be loose on the lead under Eddie
