ETOBICOKE, Ontario – The rapid debut winner Dream It Is figures to have other speed to contend with in Saturday’s $100,000 My Dear Stakes at Woodbine. It will be interesting to see if the promising 2-yearold filly can prevail from just off the pace in the five-furlong dash.

Dream It Is was the 2-1 second choice in a 4 1/2-furlong maiden special weight race here May 27, when she went to the lead and never looked back to win in a fast time of 51.76 seconds. Trainer Barb Minshall said she liked the chances of Dream It Is heading into that event.

“I knew she’d leave the gate running,” Minshall said. “She’s quick but not ‘rank’ quick. If somebody wants to go in front of her, she’s more than happy to sit. She has a lot of speed, but she’s very easygoing.”

Minshall said Dream It Is worked impressively on the training track June 17, breezing a half-mile in 46.60 for the fastest of 36 moves at the distance that day.

“She worked really good with Courtly Manner,” Minshall said. “She galloped out [fiveeighths] in 59 and change.”

Eight others were entered in the My Dear, including the supplemented Josephine.
