How to play the Pick 4

- by Michael Hammersly

Race 10

INFLEXIBILITY was a well-beaten third behind HOLY HELENA in the Woodbine Oaks here June 11 but this gal was actually favored. It was her first start on synthetic and she had trouble. She can benefit from that and trainer Chad Brown isn’t coming here for the camaraderie. GUY CABALLERO is heading the right way and the way he finished to win the shorter Plate Trial hints he’ll handle today’s added ground. HOLY HELENA is the one to beat coming off two straight wins including the Woodbine Oaks last time out here June 11. KING AND HIS COURT, last year’s Canadian 2-year-old champ, appears back on track. Race 11

JUPITER’S EAGLE just missed vs. similar when 2nd beaten just a nose here June 11. That continued her improving form and she may be ready to break through. HAILEY’S PRIZE has been knocking on the door since debuting here last summer (7 2nds, 1 3rd in 8 starts) and might break through. While that good 2nd last time out May 22 came on turf she’s run well on this track (6 2nds in 7 tries). FORESTELLA likewise has run a number of good races at this level. (3)

Race 12

MADE YOU LOOK has been knocking heads vs. tougher and while those waters were too deep the move to this spot may be just what the Dr. ordered. He showed ample talent before. CITY BOY has done little wrong in three starts, the last two on turf (a win and a 2nd). (2)

Race 13

JUST RENO and CHARMING VISION ran 2nd and 3rd, respectively, separated by just a head, in a spot similar to this here June 11. That was JUST RENO’s first start in 7 months and he lost by just a nose. It might be his day to get his diploma. CHARMING VISION, was just a head back in 3rd so he fits. That was just his 2nd start so he can improve. EXECUTIVE SIGHT was gone almost a year but came back with two sharp efforts at this level here recently so he’s a good fit. (3)
