How to play the Pick 4

- by Kenny Peck

RACE 7: LUNA AZTECA was no match for the winner but game to save the place in her seasonal debut last time out. EURO K SHOTGUN has been idle since December but she has been training very well for this. BIG SISTER RIDGE regressed in her second start off the layoff but she could be in line for an improved effort here in her third start back after the break. DONITA'S RULER was a beaten favorite in each of her last two but she closed with interest in both of those races (4).

RACE 8: I'M A LOOKER, from the barn of the sizzling Brad Cox, hasn't been out since November, but she should be well set up in the Saylorville, which features a fair amount of pace. HAILSTORM SLEW is another who figures to benefit from the expected race flow. CHANTELINE is the main speed; she could face pressure on the front end but her top recent figures make her a tough filly to omit (3).

RACE 9: Taking a stand with JORDAN'S HENNY, who was a sharp winner when last seen, making an impressive move to the lead and drawing off smartly. She was off the board in the Kentucky and Gulfstream Oaks but she was too close to a pace meltdown in the former and she moved prematurely in the latter. This Iowa Oaks seems likely to feature a pace scenario that favors closers and she could be set up to make the last run (1).

RACE 10: Using all ten in the finale, which, as a statebred claimer for non-winners of two lifetime, is by definition a wide-open sprint. After all, the 1-for-21 TOUR TO GLORY is the 3-1 Morning Line favorite, which is the first clue that this is a race in which to take a stab at a price (10).

THE PLAY: 1,3, 4, 7 / 2, 4, 6 / 8 / ALL = 120 Combinations ($60 Ticket)
