FIRST RACE

VIA ANN lacked room in the stretch en route to finishing a close fourth when she switched to the turf for her second race June 17. That was after a long layoff, and the daughter of Street Boss should continue to progress here in her second start with Lasix. HEART RUSH placed in both of her outings at this stand under Lermyte, and should be prominent again with her tactical speed. SPLASHTACKULAR had worked well before being declared a nonstarter due to a gate malfunction in her June 10 comeback.

SECOND RACE

PATMOS went too fast on a substantial lead before fading to fourth in a longer route at this $10K NW2 class June 23. She’s switching to an accomplished front-end rider, Alan Garcia, and could go coastto-coast in her third try off the bench. SWEET CITY WOMAN lagged far behind the aforementioned quick pace before mounting a wide rally to just miss in her second start off the shelf. OLIVIA’S SMILE is a half-sister to four route winners on the main track, and could hit the ticket in her initial venture around two turns.

THIRD RACE

RYOAN checked in second in each of her grass outings last year, which included a nose loss to the hard-knocking Modus Operandi. She recently changed trainers to Vassilieva, who has impressive stats with new shooters. I LOOK INCREDIBLE came from fifth to graduate two back in a sevenfurlong turf sprint. She subsequently ran second at this level, in a race which was taken off the grass, and might not mind the stretchout to nine furlongs here with Contreras aboard. My little KADLEY is making her first turf start with some breeding for the surface. The stretch-runner should like the roomy E.P. Taylor course. ALICE’S WAR placed in half of her six grass excursions.

FOURTH RACE

HE STARTED IT has been knocking on the door vs. $25-20K maidens on the Tapeta. The son of decent turf sire Proud Citizen is a half-brother to a pair of grass winners. HEAD HUNTER had a wide journey in his recent subpar showing at a mile. He was previously second going seven-eighths, and might welcome the turnback to six and a half. MASTER MACDUFF mounted a mild wide bid to end up fourth behind the top pick June 16. Use him underneath in the gimmicks, along with SOUL N’ SPIRIT.

FIFTH RACE

VINTAGE TIME went four-wide on the turn en route to finishing fifth in a $10K NW2 tilt July 1. He’s shedding the blinkers for the stretchout from six furlongs to a mile and a sixteenth, a distance which seems within his range at this level. AUGUSTO B got back on the competitive track when third after a three-wide trip while switching to the Tapeta June 24. CANDY RIDE CAT faded to sixth behind three next-out winners in a recent seven-furlong sprint. He could hang on for a share after showing speed, and EXILE TRAIN might be in line for another fourth.

SIXTH RACE

LUNAR LIGHT was bottled up in traffic when he was claimed from a neck loss for $10K in his penultimate race. He never threatened during a wide trip in a subsequent N1X, but should rebound in this $16K seller with Hernandez taking over. VEGAS STRIP wound up third in both of his starts at this stand against $10K starter allowance opposition. Wilson is 1 for 5 at the meet for this barn. KITTEN CANDY wasn’t an impact player when fourth in an inflated $20K starter June 23, but could round out the tri here with this trainer’s go-to rider Da Silva aboard.

SEVENTH RACE

RUN TO THE BANK was a wide fourth last time on yielding ground (lane 5) in a $32K claimer won by Eminent Force, who came right back to capture a $40K starter with a 93 Beyer. The veteran closer could be along in time in this $20K Tapeta route, unless the pace is pedestrian. PUGSLEY began his campaign on a downer, but he’s done his best running going long on the main track in the past, and should be a speed threat. GRAY PHANTOM was

reshod in the paddock prior to ending up fourth in a recent $12.5K starter. The two-time winner could pick up some of the pieces, as could TH ORIGINAL SCOTTY.

EIGHTH RACE

ELLA’S SPARKLE is by a low-percentage debut sire, but her dam produced the stakes-placed runners Me More and Mega Rush. Leading rider Da Silva has the call for one of his longtime clients, trainer Ralph Biamonte. Longtime maiden MEGALIN CANDY placed in each of her last four excursions, and should make an impact on the front end under regular rider Simon Husbands. THAT’S CLAIRE faded to fourth after dueling up front when she plunged to this $8K class from $40K in her latest. Use ZLATICA and PASTURE CURFEW in the lower rungs of vertical wagers.
