BEST BET: RACE 9, CAJUN QUEEN

FIRST RACE

REAGAN’S ODYSSEY, winless in five races this year after going 5 for 12 in 2015, gets much needed class relief in this $25,000 conditioned claimer after getting pieces in starters over the past couple months. BIAMONTE rallied to be second with a troubled trip against a comparable field last out in her best performance since winning four straight in the spring and summer of 2016. IMNAHA was away poorly last out and never got involved in a starter race in which she seemed outclassed anyway; far better suited to this claimer and fits off her earlier two starts on this course this year in April and May.

SECOND RACE

TIZABLIZZARD debuted with a fourth against classier maiden $25,000 claimers, and is now dropped in class to maiden $16,000 for a successful second-out barn. BABY ALIDETT ran second at first asking from the rail - a position she again draws - after being cold on the board at 25-1 odds. MAIS OUI D’OR went off at less than 4-1 odds when debuting for maiden $25,000, though her highpercentage connections likely influenced that. She chased the pace and ended up a well beaten sixth but could improve from the experience.

THIRD RACE

HARRYHEE is a consistent sort that has hit the board in five consecutive races, capped by a clearcut win in the slop June 3 against Florida-bred N1X allowance horses. As well as he ran that day, his fastest figures have come on fast tracks. J B QUICK is a classy starter horse but finished four lengths behind the top choice when they met May 21 and hasn’t run since; better than what he showed on that May 21 afternoon. KEEP ME GROUNDED joins a 20-percent barn off the claim after winning an offthe-turf $10,000 claimer with an 81 Beyer June 10.

FOURTH RACE

I’M REALLY SUMTHIN was beaten by DIPLOMATIC AFFAIR in their last matchup, but had a wide trip from the outside post and perhaps can turn the tables; 3 for 8 this year and Gaffalione up. DIPLOMATIC AFFAIR has won two in a row and three of her last four; only uncertainty is a change in barn off a claim; tough if she maintains her form. CHERI’S WIN has run behind the top two in recent matchups - fairly flat recent efforts - but won a couple races at Gulf earlier in the year; prone to minor awards.

FIFTH RACE

NO DENIAL is returned to the claiming ranks after a respectable fifth against starter runners May 26; won the last time he raced for a tag, though in a maiden claimer. MR FRENCH established rocksolid form over the winter and spring at Tampa and will be a force here if he can run as well over the Gulfstream turf course; out of action for over two months but lands Gaffalione. EXCLUSIVE REWARD takes on winners for the first time after graduating from the maiden $12,500 ranks in his eighth start; tactical speed is a plus.

SIXTH RACE

FIRST DISTINCTION hasn’t started since Apr. 23 and shows just one published work in her past performances, but returns for a high-percentage barn and seems to run fairly well when fresh; speedy and classy for $6,250 claiming company. RORAIMA DOS has just won two of his last four starts, including her latest by 2 3/4 lengths with a 64 Beyer June 29; can push the pace or come from a couple lengths off the leaders. APPELLA’S BALL showed nothing in his first four starts, but has since won two of four; factor if she can reproduce her last effort when she won a $6,250 N2L claimer June 22.

SEVENTH RACE

PUBLICIST rates the edge on form and consistency, having been first or second in three straight races with Beyers in the low 70s. FIRST ILLUSION can whip these if she returns to her 2016 form, although one never knows if a horse can do that after a long time away; a close sixth in a comeback in a similar Florida-bred allowance race June 22 in her only race of the year. CALI CAT won two claiming races in a row before a fifth in a race like this June 2; respectable Beyers.

EIGHTH RACE

CATCH THAT CAT has shown much improved form in her last two starts, and is now with highpercentage trainer Peter Walder, who back from hiatus; capable of repeating in this N2L claimer after a fast maiden claiming victory. DRESSED IN HEELS has won three in a row, two of which came on sloppy tracks; prefers racing on the lead and is going to have to work hard to make the front with a cutback in distance from a mile to seven furlongs. MISS CONTESSA has run well in three of her last four starts with the exception coming over an off track in April.

NINTH RACE

CAJUN QUEEN has rattled off three in a row after being claimed for $16,000 in March, including twice against starter races that were stronger races than this first-level allowance. FASHIONABLY WILD broke her maiden wire to wire two back before running a close fifth in an allowance June 25; inside post is a plus in 7 1/2-furlong turf races. GOLDEN DELICIOUS won three races last year from six starts but has gone unplaced in five races this year; still owns decent recent figs.

TENTH RACE

SOBRINO is dropped off the claim by winning connections and returned to his preferred surface on dirt; tough to deny in the nightcap. DARDO blew away maiden $10,000 claimers July 1, scoring by 10 lengths with a 78 Beyer; previous two races resulted in runner-up finishes against low-end maiden claimers. ANNIE’S BIG BOY was a winner June 16 by a head over DARDO, though it took him nine starts to finally break his maiden.
