BEST BET: RACE 7, SUNSHINE TREASURE

FIRST RACE

BAR LIBRE proved a determined winner of a $10,000 N2L claimer on the grass against N2L stock, and stands a good chance to repeat against N3L foes. EVIL TWIN goes for a three peat after winning a pair of grass races this summer since joining this barn; rock solid. A SQUARE TO SPARE is a speedy class dropper that has kept richer claiming and starter company over her career; adds blinkers, perhaps an indication of barn frustration after being well backed in a number of her recent defeats.

SECOND RACE

EASTER VIGIL showed speed before fading to sixth first time out against a seven-horse field of straight maidens; now in for maiden $16,000 and seemingly holds a class edge. GUNSHIP has improved with each of his three starts, capped by a runnerup finish last out at this level. COAL MINERS SON was competitive for two or three furlongs against richer maiden claimers when debuting July 6 before being outrun late and ending up a well beaten seventh; high-percentage barn surprisingly is 0 for its last 17 with 2-year-olds.

THIRD RACE

BRANDY’S GIRL deserves forgiveness for fading to fourth last out in the slop. He is most effective as a turf sprinter - conditions he gets here. EXTRAVAGANT KID beat the top choice by 1 1/4 lengths when they met in March on this turf course, and since has run third and fourth in a pair of dirt races. DOCTOR J DUB can threaten if he can reproduce his last effort when he was a fourth behind the ultra quick Pay And Price; winless in 10 starts since scoring a 23-1 upset in the Grade 3 Turf Monster last year.

FOURTH RACE

MARKET STRENGTH is the class of this $6,250 claimer and should win if he can handle the move from turf to dirt. He has started just once on dirt, finishing third in the slop in a race taken off the grass. LE KYBALION work up last out with a surface switch to the main track, winning by over 7 lengths after not having shown a great deal in eight previous starts on grass. KNOCKOUT RANGER finished fourth against this level of competition after winning a maiden $10,000 race in the 11th start of his career.

FIFTH RACE

DYNAMIC DANCER has been beaten at short prices in a number of his starts, but comes off his best race to date, a runner-up finish that earned him a career-best 82 Beyer on this course and at this five-furlong distance. FORMAN THE FOREMAN adds blinkers and seems speedy and versatile enough to handle a move from longer dirt races to this five-furlong turf dash; third the one time he raced five eighths on the grass in December. I’M THE CANDYMAN is cut back to one turn for the first time after showing speed and fading in four races from 7 1/2 furlongs to a mile.

SIXTH RACE

BOBBY AX looks ready to break his maiden after a runner-up finish in stakes company to Diamond Oops, a promising runner from the Patrick Biancone stable. This colt can be slow to start but the talent is there. CITY EDITION was pulled up from his debut after an iron broke, but still had run well enough before he was backed out of it; improvement expected second out. HIGHBORN was fairly well backed at 6-1 odds when debuting and though he ended up sixth, he was only beaten three

lengths; adds blinkers. SUNSHINE TREASURE has worked a half-mile in 49 and change a couple times and is bred for the grass being by promising young sire Treasure Beach; factor at first asking. COSITA RICA debuted with a sixth against straight maidens in a five-furlong grass race and is now matched against easier maiden claimers; barn has very good second-out numbers. RAISON TIZ moved forward last out by setting the pace and fading to be a distant second in a slow race on the dirt; barn is just 1 for its last 16 with turf sprinters.

EIGHTH RACE

DENVER was half asleep to begin when debuting June 17 but kicked into gear down the lane to grab third in a fast race; improvement anticipated with experience, first Lasix, and a stretch out from 4 1/2 to 6 furlongs. Uncoupled stablemate BLONDE BOMBER debuted with a fifth and has since recorded a pair of runner-up finishes; tactical speed is a plus. GABRIELLE ELIZABETH was bet down to 7-2 first out off some quick works, but only beat a couple in finishing a distant fourth; now adds blinkers and comes off a bullet gate work at Palm Meadows.

NINTH RACE

CUNNINGHAM CREEK has been in respectable form this summer on the grass and drew better than some of her chief rivals; likely to be able to save ground early from post 3. MAGIC TWO, on the other hand, is at risk of a wide trip with an outside draw; still, in sharp form for a hot barn. LEGENDOFTHEKITTEN likely goes favored after running second most recently and picking up Gaffalione; seems prone to settling for minor awards.

TENTH RACE

PILOTING is better than what he has shown in going unplaced in three starts this year. He has faced some challenging company, and his mostrecent race came on the grass in an obvious comeback. Now he gets back to doing what he does best - race a mile on the Gulfstream dirt. CONQUEST BIG E showed potential as a young horse, and after underachieving for a year and a half, sprang to life last out with a dominant win in the slop when loose on the lead; have to wonder how much the off track moved him up. MYLUTE has made over $965,000 but less than $15,000 of that this year in five races; was no match for CONQUEST BIG E when that rival freaked in the slop but he was second in his preceding race at Gulf on a fast track when racing in a small stake.

ELEVENTH RACE

WEEKEND APPEAL just outran VIVA BERTHA in a head-to-head matchup when second and ‘BERTHA third in a similar $10,000 claimer. ‘APPEAL appears on the upswing for her current barn. VIVA BERTHA certainly has the best overall body of work in the field, having won 12 of 45 starts, and 10 of 29 on turf. HOLLYWOOD TOMCAT is a winner of two of her last three races but in conditioned claimers and now goes in a tougher open $10,000 race.
