BEST BET: RACE 1, PRINCESS ROYAL

FIRST RACE

PRINCESS ROYAL led until the final strides in a shorter turf route at this level July 14. She doesn’t have another regular front-runner to deal with here, and figures to take some catching under Contreras. ALICE’S WAR was only beaten about four lengths last time when seventh after a ground-saving trip in the restricted Victoriana Stakes. LOVIN SPOON PHIL rallied outside to finish a close fourth behind the top pick when making her turf debut in the aforementioned event. Use LITTLE CHRISTMAS in the tri and super.

SECOND RACE

DIVINE DANCE has won three in a row going a mile and a sixteenth on the Tapeta, dating back to mid-October. One of his two turf efforts last year was decent, and he should be dangerous with his confidence on a high. Stretch-runner FOREST BROTHER is moving out to a distance which is farther than his preferred off a respectable third traveling six and a half. ATYPICAL is another closing turf sprinter who’s questionable going this far, but he could have a say in the outcome with a hot Da Silva taking over. BEYOND SMART is another possibility.

THIRD RACE

GIZMO’S DESTINY got away slowly when bumped before closing from fifth to third in her opener, which was won by the promising Summer Sunday, who subsequently doubled up in the Nandi Stakes. The daughter of Giant Gizmo should welcome the stretchout from five and a half to six and a half furlongs. MISGUIDED PASSION checked in third in both of her outings in shorter sprints. The top two finishers from her last race both came back to disappoint. FAIRY HILL has worked well and is debuting with blinkers. Her outside draw could lead to lead to an awkward break.

FOURTH RACE

COLEYVILLE reversed his laid-back style last time and pressed the pace before fading in a maiden special on the lawn. With a less-aggressive approach, he could be more effective at a square price in this easier turf route. BUTTERMILK PIKE prevailed in a front-end battle before giving way late when second in his much-improved second start July 9. He may have found his niche traveling middle distances on the grass. Longtime maidens MICK THE CONQUEROR, GREENFIELD and D’S DARK KNIGHT are logical for the lower rungs of the exotics.

FIFTH RACE

YARMORKA was overmatched against the likes of My Cantata, Real Coal and Unseen Angels in a recent starter allowance turf sprint. She’s meeting considerably easier in this $8K Tapeta tilt, and could end a long drought with top jock Da Silva taking over. NO SOUP FOR YOU is halving in value off a subpar showing. She prefers being outside, so her inside draw is a negative, but she’s among the more likely ones. SWEET ESCAPE figures to pick up some of the pieces on the turnback from a winning route start to seven-eighths. CAPTURE YOUR HEART is plunging to where she could wake up.

SIXTH RACE

INVOLUNTARY was competitive in her last few in G2 stakes company, which included a close third in the 10-furlong Dance Smartly. The improving daughter of the late City Zip might not mind the move out to about 12 furlongs in this overnight stakes. RACHEL WALL is the lone entrant with experience at the distance, over which she faded to fourth in a May 27 stakes at Churchill. Note that she won a 12-furlong N2X/optional claimer at Saratoga last year. GIOVANNA BLUES ran fifth in
