BEST BET: RACE 5, ARDOR

FIRST RACE

VILLAGEOFVIBANK is returning from a break in a spot in which he could wire the field under Da Silva, who was aboard for his back-to-back fivefurlong scores in the spring. His connections won three consecutive races on Monday. DASH OF DAZZLE is stepping up off a closing win going six and a half in a slow-paced $20K tilt. Threequarters is a little short for him, but he could be along for a high placing. AZIMUT is dropping off a troubled fifth in an N1X turf sprint.

SECOND RACE

HANDSOME LIKE ME got away slowly before taking the long way home when fifth in his five-furlong debut. The son of stamina sire Giant Gizmo should love the stretchout to six and a half furlongs in the OS maiden special. SILENT JET is by leading Canadian 2yo sire Silent Name. He bred a host of quality Stronach mares a few years ago, including “Jet’s” dam, G2 stakes winner Sugar Swirl, who’s produced stakes winner Charming Delilah and stakes-placed Unbridled Juan. HAZY DAVY lacked room at the head of the stretch while in the midst of his rally before tiring in the lane in his opener, which was won by the future stakes winner Be Vewy Vewy Quiet.

THIRD RACE

CRACK THAT WHIP hasn’t seen action since the fall, but can fire while fresh as evidenced by her debut victory going long two years ago, when she earned a 75 Beyer. Her new trainer has fared well with his layoff runners at the meet. TURBO DRIVEN DIVA was a prominent second last time in her first N1X attempt going a mile and a sixteenth. ACIANO beat maidens over this distance after a tardy start in her muchimproved third start.

FOURTH RACE

HOLTZ wasn’t far from getting the job done when plunging in price from $25K to $8K in his latest. Seven-eighths might be the ideal distance for the son of Silent Name. COTTON SAILS is drop- ping from $16K to $10K for his first start on the Tapeta, with Boulanger riding. HESASHREWDDUDE wasn’t far behind HOLTZ in third in his best effort to date July 26. KOR ECHSTASY had a decent gate work July 8.

FIFTH RACE

ARDOR galloped out strongly after closing from third to second when debuting in an identical spot June 30. The shipper has since worked two bullets over Arlington’s Polytrack, for a trainer who excels with second-timers and not firsters. Y’ALL is by the popular Distorted Humor, who’s sired 17% 2yo debut winners. The $90K yearling purchase has worked well and gets Hernandez, who’s 13 for 32 at the meet for trainer Roger Attfield. YANGTZE DELTA is a full-sister to Canadian champion 2yo Leonnatus Anteas and G2-placed Mekong Delta. TOMATO BISQUE is a full to G2 stakes-winning router Macho Macho.

SIXTH RACE

REDEPLOY lacked room at the quarter pole before checking in fifth as the lukewarm favorite when halving in price to $8K July 14. His previous form was decent, and he could rebound with blinkers added off the claim. GIZMOTHE-MOGWAIJEDI is turning back to three-quarters off a fade job going long, and should be a factor off yet another claim. Longtime maidens SCARLET FORESTER and JIMBO FIVE are mandatory for the lower rungs of the exotics in this $12.5K contest.

NIIGON’S BAY began slowly before racing fourwide most of the way en route to a neck loss in a longer turf route at this level July 12. The winner of that event was only beaten about four lengths next-time out in the restricted Victoriana Stakes. TANCOOK is meeting easier after being competitive in open N1X company, and should be prominent as the chalk. LIDDYUP acted up in the gate last time prior to running fifth in a 12-furlong N1X. RYOAN should hit the ticket if she fires one of her better shots.

EIGHTH RACE

Off four straight stakes triumphs, PINK LLOYD has evolved into the country’s leading sprinter. The flashy chestnut is dropping off a daylight score in a G3 fixture to this OS event, which his trainer has won thrice, and should be a punctual choice. JACKS ESCARPMENT has worked nicely since changing barns in June, and could be rejuvenated with Boulanger taking over. SAN NICOLA THUNDER has run four solid races in as many starts at this stand. The versatile veteran was recently second in a key $40K starter than contained the next-out winners Eminent Force and Best Bard. BOREAL SPIRIT could round out the super.

NINTH RACE

SUGAR JONES parlayed an ideal outside/stalking trip into her second straight allowance victory last time on the Tapeta. The lovely 4yo has never been better, and could keep her roll going in this N2X/optional claimer on the grass, which she can handle when she’s on her game. KASUGA might be vulnerable on short rest after running two huge races in July. They were a track-record-breaking performance in a $50K claimer followed by a heartbreaking loss in the G3 Royal North. STREET CASH had a troubled trip in her comeback. BEARS-ATLANTICMIST figures to pick up some of the pieces.

TENTH RACE

OFFICE IN THE SKY came up empty in the drive after a stalking trip last time in a key $20K seller. She’s descending to a new low in this $12.5K maiden tilt, with leading rider Da Silva taking over. LADY VIOLET M finished second for $16K in her first turf assignment July 19. She may prefer the grass, but should be in the hunt with Hernandez aboard. NORTHERN COLORS was squeezed back at the break before closing on her left lead for second in her $8K debut.

ELEVENTH RACE

YOU’RE MINE placed in both of her outings traveling a mile and a sixteenth on the green, and could put it all together in this one-mile maiden special. RITZY ROSE edged out the top pick for second after dueling up front when returning from another layoff July 12. MATCHING VOWS should be a speed threat on the stretchout, in her first try with Moran up. First-timers SNIPPY and MAGICAL HOLIDAY are both bred for the turf.
