BEST BET: RACE 8, WRECK EM

FIRST RACE

Impressive Student, a promising 3-year-old Louisiana-bred, meets older rivals in the featured sixth race, an optional $17,500 claiming turf route that drew a competitive cast. In the opener, JUST CRUISING gets the nod off a runner-up finish against similar last out at LaD. She is a half-sister to U Belong to Me, a stakes winner of $250K. BLAME FREE finished right behind top choice last out. DANCE TILL TWO was just edged last out in a race that has become a key one. The thirdplace finisher came back in her next start to win a maiden allowance at LaD with a Beyer Figure of 61, and the fifth-place finisher, Our Golden Girl, a $12.5K maiden claimer at EvD, with a Beyer of 48.

SECOND RACE

TSUNAMI GIRL comes off a smart win at Gulfstream and for the effort earned what ranks as this field’s best last-race Beyer Speed Figure. She also draws an improved post over that race. OPEN INTEREST leaves the statebred ranks behind, but is appealing for her consistent nature. MRS. GERTRUDE makes a couple of notable moves, as she is back on turf and back racing around two turns. Her best effort at the current meet came under such conditions.

THIRD RACE

TINC is a logical choice off a runner-up finish at this level and distance last out at Louisiana Downs. For the effort she earned what ranks as this field’s best last-race Beyer Figure. O MY GIGI exits same race as top choice, and boasts a strong record over the local main track. DESTINY’S PORT owns a competitive series of Beyer Figures.

FOURTH RACE

ABBY IN PINK has made the move back to turf following a productive Oaklawn and like that she’s moved forward with each of her starts over the Franks course this meet at LaD. She might be sitting on a peak effort in her third out since March. VALENTINE CHARM finished in front of top choice last time, and for this trip will add blinkers. VALENTINE CHARM faces older rivals, but owns the field’s co-highest last-race Beyer Figure. She shares the distinction with TOO BAD CHU, who ran third against steeper last out. A drawback is the wide post. Still, more than capable.

FIFTH RACE

IDE BE A MIRACLE moves back to dirt following a turf start against steeper. She won her maiden over the local main track - at this five and a half furlong distance. IDE BE A MIRACLE also is getting back with statebreds. GOING COUNTRY ran a big race on the turnback in distance last time and like top choice will be returning to the statebred ranks. YES IM TRICKY could get an ideal setup behind IDE BE A MIRACLE, GOING COUNTRY and TIZ COMMANDER.

SIXTH RACE

KNOCKIT OFF has been in the zone, winning four of his last five starts. His most recent win came over open company, and now he moves back into the statebred ranks with the field’s best last-race Beyer Figure. TRUE FLAT was third against a quality kind of winner last out and could be sitting on a peak effort in his third start since March. IMPRESSIVE STUDENT seems like a promising sort for Turner and Nicks. He put two together over the Fair Grounds course this winter and for this is returning to the overnight ranks after facing stakes foes. He is a half-brother to stakes winner Valentine Eddie. BOSTON HUMOR is a half-brother to Zucchini Flower, a multiple stakes winner of $248K.

SEVENTH RACE

BIG COMMISSION is a consistent sort who owns a strong series of Beyer Figures. He also should be sharp for the six furlongs off the five and a half furlong race. SAVE YOUR BREATH cuts back to one turn after showing speed around two, and that can be an effective move with a horse. SAVE YOUR BREATH also is back on dirt, site of the bulk of his success. ONE TRUE SUN is a class runner as a 15-time winner. He was favored over similar last out at LaD. Hickory.
