BEST BET: RACE 5, WHILE YE MAY

FIRST RACE

WILD GOOD has won two of his last three with the loss coming when he caught a sloppy track. MCFLY was disappointing in his latest when a seventh against similar; runs hot and cold but is a two-time winner in six starts for his current stable. The speedy NOBLE VENEZUELA stepped up in class off the claim and pressed the pace before fading to fourth in a seven-furlong contest; dangerous on the cutback to three quarters.

SECOND RACE

QUEEN ROLLER has gone unplaced in four straight races, but had excuses for many of those lowest, including most recently when away poorly from the gate; capable of rebounding with the return to claiming company. E Z’S MISTRESS has been first or second in 7 of 12 starts but hasn’t been running as quickly as she did earlier in the year. THREE ILLUSIONS may improve upon her latest when third in an optional claimer in the slop; makes her second start following a layoff of three months.

THIRD RACE

PROMETE gets some class relief following a pair of fourths in turf routes earlier this summer; down from $30,000 to $16,000. STAY IN CRUISE joins a barn that over the years has won at a high percentage, though has been a little cold this summer; was fifth when claimed last out but had previously been second a couple times for $10,000. A B G MOSTRO is another that steps up from the $10,000 level; finished well to be fourth last out on July 29, losing by only 1 3/4 lengths.

FOURTH RACE

All first timers in this baby race...HOLLIS sold well at auction for $120,000 and has trained well at The Thoroughbred Center in Kentucky leading up to his debut. MARANATHA starts for a winning barn and likely is fitter than his limited published worktab would suggest. MASTER MANIPULATOR is by a speed sire in Tale of the Cat and worked a bullet from the gate at Palm Meadows August 12; rail post can be tricky for an inexperienced

FIFTH RACE

WHILE YE MAY impressed with a good-looking victory against optional claimers last out at Churchill and is a proven over the Gulfstream course; blessed with natural speed but not a needthe-lead type. BRANDY’S GIRL and EXTRAVAGANT KID ran one-two in an allowance last month, with BRANDY, a filly, showing a new dimension by rallying successfully from off the pace in a race

SIXTH RACE

LE KYBALION has become much more productive since moved from turf to dirt, hitting the board twice in three starts on dirt, twice pairing up 60 Beyers. TAGORE plunges in class following a series of distant losses, and could wake up for a $6,250 tag; is a winner at this mile distance at Gulfstream. PUT THE BOSS BACK takes on winners

for the first time after narrowly graduating from the maiden $10,000 ranks in his 11th start.

SEVENTH RACE

AREYOUTALKINGTOME has been competitive in three turf starts this year, all the while earning Beyers of 70 or higher. SHINY COPPER PENNY comes off the best last race of any in here, a near miss after setting the pace, but he has been inconsistent and his body of work in 10 starts doesn’t match that of the top choice. KING MAURO was flat in his last start but had previously shown enough promise to suggest he can contend against foes like these.

EIGHTH RACE

COWBOY BOB debuted with a runner-up finish July 28 and has upside with that experience behind him; by a fine sire of hard-trying blue-collar runners in Wildcat Heir. NONSUCH has caught some tough maiden fields in three starts and has never been worse than fourth; has the speed to be involved from the start. ALFREDO is a first timer that comes here as part of a contingent sent south from Kentucky by trainer Dane Kobiskie

NINTH RACE

SCHETTINO regressed Beyerwise in an off-the-turf race last out but still managed a runner-up finish; clearly at his best on the turf, where she has run her fastest races and been ultra consistent. FAIR PROSPECT is in good form and owns lofty speed figures, plus is drawn on the inside, a position from which she should be able to save ground at least into the first turn. TELLING TONY come off a third in a key race in which the one-two finishers have already come back to win; 4 for 16 on the lawn.

TENTH RACE

REAGAN’S ROSE has an experience edge in a maiden race filled mostly with first timers, having twice run second in as many starts. Debuting WATERCROSS sold well at auction this year for $57,000 and is by sire of overachievers in Kantharos; promising works for a barn that regularly has them ready. Fellow first timer FLORENCE just fired a bullet in preparation for her debut and runs for a barn that has typically done well with Florida-bred juveniles, though they tend to run much better second and third out.

ELEVENTH RACE

RUN VICTORIA RUN should fire fresh off a short layoff for a high-percentage barn; beaten just two lengths when fourth against similar June 11. TACO WAYNE’S SHOT finished a length in front of the top choice when third in that same race; has raced three times since - running second, third and fifth. Late running FLYING GIRL was dull last out in running seventh but had previously been third with a troubled trip two back.

TWELFTH RACE

DIXIELAND DUDES seems the class of the nightcap when racing for a $12,500 tag after racing unsuccessfully in stakes and allowances since breaking her maiden in a special weight. DIXIE DOLL is a speedy class dropper that is returned to a level at which she was a dominant winner two back when last competing for this tag. SOUTH has struggled in two starts for this barn but is capable of handling these with a return to the form she showed in late spring.
