FIRST RACE

Remington Park in Oklahoma City opens its meet Friday night averaging more than 12 horses per race. The first program of the season features a first level allowance and a maiden special weight for 2-year-olds, both for horses bred in Oklahoma. In the opener, AMAZE is appealing for the fact that he ran a strong race off the bench last out and that he draws outside of - and has an age edge on - top contender RED FLASH. The latter should be sharp for the six panels off the five and a half furlong start. He goes for the high percentage team of Brewster, Asmussen and Eramia. TALEBEARER meets winners for the first time, but owns a strong collection of Beyer Speed Figures.

SECOND RACE

COLLATERAL KITTEN has class appeal as he is moving back to the conditioned claiming ranks after facing first-level allowance foes. He also seems like one who will benefit if the race stays on the green this time around as his maiden win came on turf. TACOLA is interesting as a runner who was based at Golden Gate earlier this year and in 2016. He turned a bullet five-eighths in his final prep for his Remington Park debut. CAN’T REMEMBER won on turf last out, and now stretches back out to two turns. He gets pedigree support for the distance move. In addition, he has a sibling who has won six times on the grass. The drawback here is the wide gate.

THIRD RACE

CHEROKEE WAMPUM cuts back to one turn and her best recent finish came at this five and a half furlong trip. She also is moving back into the maiden claiming ranks, as well as the statebred ranks. GRASSIEBANK has more natural speed than top choice, which could give her a tactical advantage. PRIDE OF ELLERTON is appealing for her consistent nature. This will mark her first out since May.

FOURTH RACE

GOLDEN DRILLER is appealing for the fact that he has a racing experience edge on most of these. He also hooked an eventual stakes winner last out in Thermistor, who one start after their meeting captured the $100K Gold Rush Futurity at Arapahoe Park. BRUHLMEYER is by a stallion who is getting 7 percent juvenile debut winners. This one’s dam was a winner and has produced four horses who won at 2. DAAHER’S SUCCESS merits strong consideration. May foal is by a stallion who is getting 20 percent juvenile debut winners from a limited sample, while his winning dam produced the multiple stakes winner Hailstorm Slew ($201K). On a few more pedigree points, OKIE SHIP is a half-brother to Okie Smokey, a multiple stakes winner of $215K, and SIMPLE MAN is a half-brother to stakes winner Go N Go ($158K).

FIFTH RACE

MARINE PILOT is in from Churchill Downs, where he raced over the spring and summer. He is moving back to the grass and note when last seen on turf he was facing higher-priced claimers. BOSTON MARATHONER draws a wide gate, but is appealing as a consistent sort who figures to make good use of the bit of added real estate he picks up in this spot. EMERY’S VISUALIZER owns competitive Beyer Figures.

SIXTH RACE

GRACE’S L C was just edged at this level last out at FMT and draws a post that might give McNeil options. The stakes-placed K KASH returns to the statebred ranks and is packing the field’s best lastrace Beyer Speed Figure. He is a half-brother to the multiple stakes winner Picou ($244K). TIMELY REPLY has tactical speed and finished right behind top choice last out at FMT.

SEVENTH RACE

CURMIT gives up recency to some of these as he is making his first start since April. However, he is moving back into the maiden ranks after placing in a statebred stakes at WRD. CURMIT also is arguably the best bred horse on the card as a son of Curlin and a half-brother to Magnum, a Grade 2 winner who banked $854K. On a final note, a pair of horses CURMIT finished in front of last out returned to win in their next starts, with the thirdplace finisher coming back to take a conditioned allowance at WRD with a Beyer of 74 and the fifthplace finisher, Combo Welder, a $15K conditioned claimer, also at WRD, with a Beyer of 54. THREE SEVENS has been knocking on the door against open company maidens and now moves back into the statebred ranks. PHANTOM MENACE ran a big second last out in his first start against winners, and note that race went in good time. This marks his first out since May.

EIGHTH RACE

TOWN EXTENSION has natural speed and owns a competitive series of Beyer Figures. He also draws an improved post over some of the gates he’s had over the summer. FLUMMOX should be sharp for the move back to two turns after just missing over six panels last out at PrM. MOONLIGHT PARTY moves back into the straight claiming ranks after a close second against optional claiming foes at LaD, while HANDSOME JACKSON exits a race that has produced two next out winners. The runner-up returned in his next start to account for an optional $10K claimer at Cby, with a Beyer Figure of 76, and the fifth-place finisher, High Security, an optional $12.5K claimer, also at Cby, with a Beyer of 91.

NINTH RACE

WICKED WINK makes a meaningful class move and has a winning trainer-jockey combo in his corner in Broberg and Hernandez. PLASKA is appealing for his tactical speed and consistent nature. LOS BAMBINOS draws a gate that might give Landeros options.
