Versatile Show It N Moe It stands out

DEL MAR, Calif. – Except for odds, there is not much difference between the winner of the CTBA Stakes here earlier this month and the same 2-year-old filly likely to win the Generous Portion Stakes on Wednesday at Del Mar.

Show It N Moe It was a 5-1 overlay scoring a decisive CTBA victory, but when she runs Wednesday in the $100,000 Generous Portion, also for California-bred 2-year-old fillies, Show it N Moe It is the 5-2 favorite by Del Mar linemaker Russ Hudak.

Gary Sherlock trains Show It N Moe It, who would be the third filly in recent years to win both the the 5 1/2-furlong CTBA and six-furlong Generous Portion. Heleonor Rugby in 2011 and Tilde in 2012 won both.

Sherlock said Show it N Moe It has done well since her recent win. “She came out great, and looks great,” he said, adding that her Aug. 24 workout was solid. “Two others were in front of her, she just passed them with her neck bowed.”

Ten were entered in the Generous Portion, including Northern California stakes winner Little Doe, the 4-1 second choice on the morning line. Hold That Smile, impressive maiden-claiming winner last out, and Family Girl, fourth in the CTBA, are co-third choices at 5-1.

Show It N Moe It has improved in each of her four starts, and last out proved she is effective from off the pace. She relaxed comfortably behind the speed, and cruised by 1 1/2 lengths. Show It N Moe is 2 for 2 under apprentice rider Evin Roman, who rides her on Wednesday.

Little Doe won the Wine Country Debutante on Aug. 13 at Santa Rosa, and was to arrive at Del Mar on Sunday after shipping from Golden Gate Fields.

◗ From the inside post, jockey Carmelo Martinez has limited options. He probably will need to send.

Spiced Perfection, by Smiling Tiger Beyers: 55-49-46

◗ A maiden winner on opening day, she scratched from the CTBA to wait for the Generous Portion. Spiced Perfection also is eligible for the $100,000 Barretts Debutante on Sept. 16 at Los Alamitos.

Hold That Smile, by Smiling Tiger Last 3 Beyers: 62-60-55

◗ She rolled to a decisive maiden-claiming win last out and earned the second-highest last-out Beyer Figure in the field.
