BEST BET: RACE 9, JACKSON HILL

FIRST RACE

The card for Wednesday night is a strong one, with half-siblings to such Oklahoma-bred standouts as Shotgun Kowboy, Okie Ride, Miranda Diane and Ibaka running, while offspring of the graded stakes-winning mares Wasted Tears and Peach Brew also will see action. In addition, there’s a nice group of older horses for an optional $25K claiming turf route that could produce stakes starters. In the opener, SWEETTALKN CANDYMAN is a versatile sort with speed and the outside draw could give Tohill options. DIAMOND ROWE is moving into the statebred ranks, like top choice. SULTANOFSWING owns competitive Beyer Figures, while another of interest is TRUEST OF STARS.

SECOND RACE

U’LL LOVE THIS CAT is returning to the conditioned claiming ranks after a close finish against optional claiming foes last out at Cby. She also draws an improved post over that race. SILVER REIGN is getting back on the grass for the first time in a while. She is coming off a double-digit romp over first-level allowance foes at Fair Meadows. CHERRY LANE must overcome the wide draw, but has proven an effective horse on the grass. Another of interest is ORO BIRD.

THIRD RACE

MOSTA FLYIN faced higher-priced rivals last out, perhaps for the shot on turf. He owns a series of competitive Beyer Figures and has a high percentage team in Asmussen and Eramia. MR. TICKER TALKER has speed and a useful post and he is one who could take these a long way on the lead. GONE PREACHIN might be tough to contain were he to run back to the Beyer Figure of 81 he earned two starts ago at Lone Star.

FOURTH RACE

SYDNEY FREEMAN gets a shot with statebreds after running a good second against open company in her debut last out at Prairie Meadows. She is from the Grade 3-winning mare Peach Brew, who banked $320K. CHEROKEE LASS also has racing experience on her resume, having finished fourth last out in her debut, which also came at PrM. She, too, is getting a shot with statebreds. STRAIT EXPECTATION is yet another who has some racing experience. TIC THREE is a half-sister to Okie Ride, a multiple stakes winner of $789K. IZZY’S WAY is a half-sister to Miranda Diane, a multiple stakes winner of $416K.

FIFTH RACE

ARAQEEL is making his Remington debut after seeing action at a host of locales in his career, among them Saratoga, Belmont and Churchill. He is out of a multiple stakes winner of $189K and is a half-brother to Grade 3 winner Break Water Edison ($172K). DAFTAR was right there against first-level allowance foes on dirt last out and now moves back to the grass, where he is a winner. BUTLER FIELD is from the mare Wasted Tears, a Grade 2 winner of $941K. Like top choice, this one has seen action at Saratoga and Belmont. HEISENBERG is a half-brother to multiple stakes winner Ibaka ($480K), while another of interest is TEN TO SHOW.

SIXTH RACE

MCKLINTOK makes the meaningful move to the maiden special weight ranks for the first time, and also is moving into the statebred scene. SEVENTY AND SEVEN has speed and draws a post that might give Diego options. MY TOCCET put together three solid races against open company maidens in his last three starts and he now gets a shot with statebreds.

SEVENTH RACE

BLABIMIR set the pace last out in a race that went quick, and the outside draw here might give Hernandez options. BLABIMIR also will be adding blinkers, which is a productive move for Broberg.

MINEFIELD ran a fine race last out in his first start against winners. He is a half-brother to Arkansas Derby winner Gayego ($1.7M). SMOOTH FLIGHT owns the field’s best last-race Beyer Figure.

EIGHTH RACE

Suspect we could see some of these turn up in stakes, between Remington and Louisiana Downs. Siding here with KING PTOLEMY, who might get the right kind of pace setup behind a number of these. He also was a close third against steeper last out. MACHO GABACHO must overcome the wide gate, but he should be sharp for the move to two turns off the six panel start. MACHO GABACHO also moves back to the grass and he is a multiple winner on turf. PERFECT TO PLEASE is another who gets a tough gate, but like that he is accomplished over the course at Remington.

NINTH RACE

JACKSON HILL gives up recency to some of these as he has not seen action since March, but what he lacks there he makes up for in class as one who ran well in the maiden allowance ranks during Oaklawn. He also gets his first shot with Oklahoma-breds. COME LINGER is back with statebreds after knocking on the door against open company. CUANDO AGAIN is back on the main track and she put up her best Beyer Speed Figures on dirt. SHOTGUN’S STAR is a half-sister to Shotgun Kowboy, a Grade 3 winner of $880K. SERVICE BIZ ANNIE is from a multiple stakes winning mare who earned $158K and who produced Bootleg Annie, a four-time stakes winner who has banked $489K. ROMANTIC MYTH is out of a stakes-winning mare who ran out $385K.
