SIXTH RACE

-

harrowed wet track, and she will get lasix for her second start. SHE’S DELIGHTFUL was working at Gulfstream as recently as July 30th, but her solid drills have continued since arriving up here for trainer who is just 4 for his last 109 with first time starters; dam was a very good sprinter in her day, but has yet to drop much of note. FLATLINER a half to the fast sprinter Marriedtothemusic (nine career wins, over $439k in the bank) debuting for trainer who is dangerous first time out; don’t love that he has worked over turf a couple of times. TALE OF E DUBAI didn’t run well on turf upstate, but he’s not a very good turf horse, anyway, and he comes right back to dirt off the claim for an excellent trainer; fits well here with his good race, and he has the kind of speed that projects to play well in this field. SCHIVARELLI and STORY TO TELL are both inconsistent, and they are both on the drop here following less-than-compelling performances, but they are both also too good for this field with one of their best efforts. MONTE MAN had been on an improving pattern all year, and he ran a race last time that would make him tough here should he manage to repeat it as he steps up off the claim, but it’s the only one he’s got.

SEVENTH RACE

PAZ THE BOURBON went 2-for-2 on turf last year, including an impressive win over this distance the first time she switched over, and she has improved her figures as a 3yo without finding the winner’s circle, so far; like her turning back, especially in this field where the shorter prices are not trustworthy. Also like this shorter trip for ELOWEASEL, who has been facing better horses since returing to the races; appears to have attained a level, which means trip will go a long way toward determining how well she does here. SISTER SOPHIA a closing sprinter who appears to have found a field with plenty of pace to set up her late run as she makes her second start of the year; hasn’t improved upon that promising start to her career as a 3yo, but she has been sparingly raced since then.

EIGHTH RACE

RILEY’S CHOICE will need her absolute best as she cuts back on turf for hot young trainer, but she has sprinted quite effectively on the main track, and this is the surface she is bred for, despite having had only one go over it so far; liked her turf effort where she just missed after a long duel, and she appears to have the kind of easy speed that will allow her to cope with this cut back at a price. RUBILINDA was looking to stretch out upstate, but that didn’t work out, so she gets to sprint one more time, which may not be a bad thing considering her first two starts; turned heads with a big stretch run in her debut, which followed a very green beginning, and she was unlucky in the trip and pace department when failing as a heavy favorite last time. SMILING CAUSEWAY has flashed big speed on turf in her two attempts, including stakes try where she couldn’t see off the talented Morticia through that long Laurel stretch; blinkers go back on, and she projects to beblasting to the front from the rail.

NINTH RACE

HARLAN’S VADOR got outrun early and made no impact while getting by some horses late in lone dirt sprint try to date, which came in his debut, and he appeared to improve when back to sprinting for the first time since most recently, as he closed late for 2nd over turf; faces maiden claimers for the first time on dirt as he makes the kind of surface switch that often works for this trainer. FASTLANEFRONTMAN ran a couple of races that would easily handle this field early on, but he las lost his form since while getting out badly in his races; puts blinkers on and drops again looking for the cure after disappointing effort off the layoff. BELTANY back to dirt and drooping in class after showing speed and fading on turf in last two starts; chased wide and was green early in lone dirt start to date. THADDEUS is an easy horse to make excuses for if one is so inclined, but he isn’t easy to get behind as the morning line favorite, as he may simply not be very good; has speed as he moves from one good barn to another.
