ANALYSIS

- BEST BET: RACE 5, FLASHY MARGARITTA

FIRST RACE

STARSHIP SABRINA had won two of three starts this year on the Tapeta before a non-threatening fifth in a $20K turf tilt three weeks ago. She looks to be taking an edge in this $12.5K claimer on the main track. MISS FORESTER is another dropper from the $20K who should have a say in the outcome. Leading rider Da Silva stays retains the mount on her and is 4 for 16 at the meet for this barn. ANOTHER GIRL rallied for second in a recent $10K event.

SECOND RACE

WATER POLO chased the good Eskiminzin home in both of his races, and that rival won the $200K Simcoe Stakes the other day. The Ontario-sired gelding is adding Lasix and could be in line for a lucrative payday in this open maiden special. SABLE ISLAND worked nicely from the gate Aug. 13, which wasn’t the first time that he worked quickly. His proven sire, Stormy Atlantic, has gotten nearly 12% 2yo debut winners. LOUISIANA PURCHASE was bet down to 3-1 when he was scratched at the gate from a $40K seller Aug. 27.

THIRD RACE

DEEP FREEZE was a stalking second behind a rival who improved big-time off the claim in a recent in a $25K event. The consistent 5yo should be prominent in this $20K claimer with Hernandez back in the saddle. BOLD ANIMAUX has run hot and cold since losing by a nose to the top pick at this price June 11. He was squeezed back after the break in his subpar showing July 28. TROUBLE IN PHOENIX has made his way back down to where he could get back on track. MOONLIGHT MALICE deserves another chance on the grass in his second try off the McClachrie claim, a high-percentage angle.

FOURTH RACE

EASY BID ran four-wide most of the way when fourth last time vs. $20K maidens. That was her first start on the Tapeta, and she could break through in this much easier $8K contest. PASTURE CURFEW missed the break before closing wide for third in her first two-turn attempt at a notch higher two weeks ago. BID’S KID placed in three of her six outings this year. She’s a must-use underneath in vertical wagers, along with VIEW THE STAR.

FIFTH RACE

FLASHY MARGARITTA couldn’t keep up with a peaking Malbec after flashing speed in each of his last three races. The classy 6yo is plunging from Fort Erie allowance company on dirt to $6.25K, and is a four-time winner on synthetics. TEVEZ disappointed last time in an identical spot, but the durable 11yo could get back on track off the reclaim by owner Wilf Jones and trainer Justin Nixon. MOON DOGGIE is shareless over this fivefurlong distance, but could be along to garner some of the scraps on the drop from $10K.

SIXTH RACE

POWER EMPIRE has worked well, and the Japanese-bred daughter of Empire Maker is bred to go long. Trainer Mark Casse is 4 for 12 with 2yo firsttimers in synthetic routes over the past five years ($4.86 ROI). AVIE’S MINESHAFT should be favored off good second to the favored Dixie Moon in her seven-furlong opener. The daughter of Mineshaft and an Empire Maker mare is bred to run all day. TRINI PLEASURE has worked decently and could be the sleeper in her debut. SAMS DESTINY is a half-sister to five route winners.

SEVENTH RACE

LIDDYUP awaited room on the far turn last time before closing for second in a slow-paced Tapeta tilt won by Niigon’s Bay, who subsequently doubled up in NW3 OS allowance company. She was previously fifth vs. males in a 12-furlong N1X, and this is the easiest field that she’s faced since the spring. MOST INSPIRING is adding blinkers for the stretchout to a distance over which she’s questionable off a fifth in an N1X won by Reverse, who came back to run big in the G3 Ontario Colleen. LADY BRIE landed on the edges the only time she tried the turf in a similar spot July 12.
