Harrington Pick Four Analysis

- by Derick Giwner

Race 8

(2) EVOLUTION TOUR was a sharp second in his lone pari-mutuel start at Philly and ships down to Delaware to go for some state-bred money in this race. He jumps off the page for a barn that clicks at a high percentage. If you want to play a deeper ticket (Iʼm not), (5) AMERICA FIRST has looked good in his short career and owns a win over the track.

Race 9

This Open Handicap is tricky because the best horses have outside posts and two of them havenʼt raced in months. (6) SOTO took August off but has come back with a pair of solid qualifiers in preparation for his return. Five-year-old is the fastest horse in the race thus far and has the early speed to make the front. (7) CHRISTEN ME N could be the best horse in the race but we havenʼt seen enough of him in the U.S. to tell. All of his qualifiers are good, though I wonder why he missed five weeks between his last two works. (2) SPECIAL T ROCKS should get around the #1 and sit a nice trip on the half-mile track. (8) KID PK is the sharpest horse in the race with three straight wins. Can he make the front on the smaller oval?

Race 10 - $150,000 Quillen Memorial

(2) BIT OF A LEGEND N is no stranger to half-mile tracks and the inside post will give him plenty of options. Iʼm expecting him to leave hard and attempt to control the action. At worst heʼll wind up in the pocket with a good trip. (1) MACH IT SO is capable on his best days. He is a dangerous clean-trip player. (4) MEL MARA is still searching for that nice stakes score in 2017. Things could get very interesting if driver Corey Callahan lets him loose on the engine.

Race 11

The pick 4 closes out with what looks to be an odds-on chalk in the perfect spot. (5) RAT TAIL technically steps up the non-winners condition ladder but doesnʼt find an accomplished field standing in his way. He should go wire to wire.
