BEST BET: RACE 6, MAJESTIC HEIR

FIRST RACE

At press time, it did not seem like there was much chance races would be on the turf today. PRINCESS KNOLL exits near miss when dropped to this category two weeks earlier, need only repeat try to get back on winning track. POOPSIE DOOPSIE chased preferred one from the outset last time, might have best chance of springing upset should favorite not handle the GP West strip as well as across town. SCRAP THE MANDATE has a win over this track, might come running late at a square price.

SECOND RACE

Assuming this one comes off the grass. SILVIA O. a new face to what appears a relatively weak category and out of a mare who won 13 races in her career all on dirt. Has kept a steady work tab dating back through early July. TOUCHET entered main track only, passed five rivals in bow, should catch an honest pace to run at once again. FRECKLES KAN projects on the pace along with Crazy for Sofia and Ny Beth Getsitdone, might prove best of that trio from inside post.

THIRD RACE

BRAVE REQUEST finished a neck behind likely favorite PAIR PAIR TIE in their previous encounter, will offer the better value of the pair in this spot. P P T the logical choice but still a maiden after 17 tries, hard to take at yet another short price. RACHEL’S WARRIOR has some speed but ran well enough at this distance three back to merit respect at a price.

FOURTH RACE

Assuming this one comes off the turf which would help PROMETE who has been gelded since haltered by current connections in August. Owns a win over this main track earning diploma at GPW in impressive fashion last fall. DEPENDABLE PHIL knocking on the door at this level on both turf and dirt, finished a length behind preferred one in their previous meeting over the grass. MORE ALEX can handle dirt, will need some help with the pace to set up his closing surge. Should fit with these.

FIFTH RACE

Lots of potential win candidates in this one with several interesting firsters in the mix along with those who’ve already shown promise. SPEED STAR did not perform up to expectations when bet to 4-1 for her bow but adds bliinkers and appears to have worked a bullet from the gate in the same set as R TRUE TALENT on 9/3. Will get the nod on experience. The latter has several big works on the resume’ and did bring $70K at the OBS Sale earlier this year. Is by a win early sire and from win early connections. Lots to like. THREE SOCKS ONE dueled, came again in a promising bow, one of many speed types in this lineup.

SIXTH RACE

MAJESTIC HEIR, the day’s best, appears to have been wisely entered as main track only on the assumption this one moves to dirt. Will hopefully draw enough scratches to move him in to a manageable post. EL CICLON posted well graded slop win two back but is pace dependent as a result of his running style. ALL HUNDREDS posted back to back open $6,250 claiming wins across town but has switched hands since those victories. Must prove he can repeat that kind of form for present connections.

SEVENTH RACE

A full field once again in this category which means trip will decide the outcome. MATTHEWS MYSTERY ran great despite taking worst of it last

time. Bobbled briefly at break, was eased back from tight quarters on rail, steadied a couple of more times including near wire which likely cost him 3rd money. Switches to more experienced rider, could be right one today. HORSE SPOTTER

CARL the logical choice off last when just missing vs. same kind making only second start off a lengthy layoff and did gallop out well in front of the field past wire. Owns win over the strip. Hard to ignore if able to work out a trip on the rail. GONE

JAK another who ran well despite getting shuffled and knocked around some against same kind on 9/23.

EIGHTH RACE

This one a complete guessing game especially if switching to dirt. SONG OF MELODY adds blinkers, beat 3 of 7 rivals in latest and should handle the distance by Flat Out out of an Unbridled’s Song mare. As good as any here. WINNIE has been compromised by unlucky triips on all previous occasions especially last time when losing rider on the turf. Showed improved speed prior to incident with blinkers, bred to handle the ground on mare’s side. Could prove real sleeper. SECRET PIE O’MY finished in front of 4 others trying two turns for the first time despite some traffic issues. Another with some stamina on the mare’s side.

NINTH RACE

Another full and evenly matched field. MITOS Y LEYENDAS ran well behind red hot Coxswain when dropped to this level two weeks earlier despite a bit of a slow start, should be good enough to get job done if able to work out clean run in bulky lineup. STARSHIP APOLLO continues to prove popular item at claim box, has won a few against lower level open claiming types and in dangerous hands for return to a track he’s won over in past. BULL DOZER back where he belongs after being overmatched two back and failing to muster much run on grass. Classy vet could be over the top a bit now but note he’s already won 10 times on this track, can be along at his best.

TENTH RACE

Another prospective off the turf bottom level maiden mess to sort out and as such a lot of guess work at press time. LEAVING DIXIE comes off animproved try on turf but showed promise on the main track as well. As good as any. KABUKI continues to hold her form well on grass with lone dirt try coming against much tougher MSW foes. LITTLE BABY BELLA disappointed as even money choice when donning blinks for first time last month but still ran well enough to merit respect with this group.
