FIRST RACE

SAILOR’S THOUGHT brings some stamina-oriented works to this mile and a sixteenth maiden special. She’s by the good debut sire Midshipman, and is bred to go long on the dam’s side. Her stablemate, LOGIC OF ABSURDITY, has improved with each subsequent outing. She’s probably the one to fear most with Da Silva retaining the mount. SOUPER SALARY figures to be a speed threat, as she returns from yet another break.

SECOND RACE

HALO LAELIA prevailed in a front-end battle before giving way late in her much-improved second start and local debut three weeks ago. The daughter of Silent Name is adding Lasix and Boulanger for this maiden special, and could go all the way. POST TO POST made a bid to the lead from a stalking position before getting nailed on the wire in a six-furlong maiden special at first asking Sept. 1. Husbands knows her better now. CLICKITY CLACK is going on Lasix off a fade job in the rich Muskoka Stakes, and should be in the hunt.

THIRD RACE

WARRIOR HALL is shortening up off a series of ho-hum efforts in turf routes at Belmont and Monmouth, and could be along in time in her first start for trainer Roger Attfield. Her bullet work in :46.80 Sept. 22 is a classic example of a deceptively-fast move where she was at full speed when hitting the half-mile pole. FRAGRANCE rode a speed bias to victory in her opener, and wound up third as the even-money favorite in her first N1X try most recently. CAMARIA is another turn backer who’s worked nicely leading up to this six and a half-furlong sprint.

FOURTH RACE

CHILLED MILK raced four-wide when a fading sixth in her $40K opener on the main track. The daughter of Artie Schiller is bred for the lawn, and has been working fast over the turf training course. SHAUNESSY closed four-wide for second in a recent $16K seller on the Tapeta. The daughter of Court Vision might not mind the surface change. GUN LOBBY is by a hot young high-percentage debut sire, Maclean’s Music, who’s produced a low 6% turf winners. Her dam was a grass winner, and her trainer can have one ready. WICKED WEST benefited from a speed bias on the turf when a front-running fourth in her latest.

FIFTH RACE

SILENT STING led the way over an anti-speed track before weakening to second when favored in his six-furlong opener. The half-brother to G1 winner Celestine should be much fitter for the experience, and could make the grade with a less-aggressive approach. BEER PRESSURE brings the highest Beyers to the table, while finishing second in each of his outings. Seven-eighths seems a little farther than his optimum distance. REMEMBER GIZMO came up empty in the stretch after making a three-wide bid on the far turn in his two-turn debut, a race he seemingly needed.

SIXTH RACE

KADLEY was stuck in traffic in the stretch last time in the La Prevoyante Stakes on the grass. She was previously a fast-closing third on the Tapeta in the Eternal Search Stakes, after which she galloped out on top. BRIGHTER IDEAS is another deep closer who should be a factor. She narrowly lost a recent turf route at this level under current pilot Boulanger. BOLDNPOSSIBLE figures to set an honest pace for stablemate BRIGHTER IDEAS, in just her third outing off the year. Use her underneath in vertical bets, along with TANCOOK.

SEVENTH RACE

SAN NICOLA THUNDER wasn’t worse than second in six starts at this stand, and is exiting a victory in a higher optional claimer. He possesses effective tactical speed, and will be dangerous if he stays in

the zone. OCCASIONAL VIEW is another veteran win machine who’s had a productive meet. Three-quarters is shorter than his preferred seven-furlong distance, but he should be along for a share. BOREAL SPIRIT set a slow pace on a speed-favoring main track last time en route to running second with a career high 99 Beyer in the G3 Bold Venture. He wasn’t far behind the top pick in third in his last grass start.

EIGHTH RACE

AVIE’S MINESHAFT closed for second behind the future Natalma Stakes runner-up Dixie Moon in her seven-furlong debut. She raced four-wide over an inside-biased track en route to breaking her maiden around two turns most recently, and could give trainer Josie Carroll her third win in this G3 fixture. WONDER GADOT finished a lapped-on third after a three-wide staking trip last time in the G1 Natalma on turf. The daughter of Medaglia d’Oro might prefer the main track over the grass, and should be a major player under Husbands, who’s won this race six times. Her trainer, Mark Casse, also sends out SHAMROCK ROSE, who closed strongly from third after a tardy start to land her six-furlong debut in the Ontario Debutante Stakes. Her dam hasn’t produced a route winner, so she might be at her best around one turn.

NINTH RACE

HIDDEN TO WIN has been freshened since her third straight dull effort Aug. 19. She rallied stoutly to find the mark following a long layoff in a June 4 optional claimer, and has some speed to chase in this $40K seller. The speedy SASSY OMBRE won two of her three races since getting claimed for a bargain $20K June 25, including a three-length romp in an N1X. CASABLANCA KISS faded in the final sixteenth after participating in a speed duel last time for $50K. The 10-time winner could hang on for a slice with Contreras taking over from Da Silva, who’s landed on the top choice.

TENTH RACE

After getting away slowly, CANADIAN EH raced at least four-wide all the way before finishing a distant fourth in her first try at this level Sept. 4. She should save some ground here and could break through in the third start of her form cycle. CALAIS COVE showed little in her six-furlong debut, but the full-sister to Ault is bred to be late bloomer and could wake up at a price. TYPICALLY was a prominent second vs. $32K maidens in her latest, and should crack the top three.

ELEVENTH RACE

LEVIATHAN struggled in New York and Kentucky. The son of Candy Ride is a genuine wild card in his local bow, in his first try for a trainer who has a 25% strike rate with new shooters. The first-time gelding is adding blinkers, and leading rider Da Silva has the mount. PRIDE OF DISTINCTION took the long way home from the back of the pack to finish a lapped-on fourth in his $12.5K debut. He’s probably not out of his league in this inflated $32K contest. SEVEN COMING OUT rode an inside bias to a third-place finish in his $16K opener. DIAMONDS AND ROSES is dropping from maiden special company following a summer vacation.
