FIRST RACE

MAGIC SKYS is halving in price and going from one conditioned claimer to another, while moving from turf to the Tapeta, on which she graduated last fall. IRIS WILL mounted a wide rally from far back for second after getting away slowly when going nine furlongs in her latest. THALIAS FIRE closed inside from fifth to end up third the latter Sept. 27. Both of her victories came over mile and a sixteenth on synthetics.

SECOND RACE

CAPE ROCO prevailed in a front-end duel before drawing clear to beat $20K NW2 stock Sept. 4. His tactical speed should make him dangerous in this $20K B tilt. CROWN PRINCE beat two nextout winners when a lapped-on third in a one-mile turf route at this level a month ago. DEXTER ROAD never challenged last time after a tardy start in a much tougher spot, and is dropping to where he could get back on track.

THIRD RACE

GILDED WARRIOR pressed a fast pace before weakening to third last time in his second race off the bench and just his third start of the meet. He resides in a live barn, and could be ready to pop. ARTISTICO was rated in mid-pack before checking in fourth behind the top pick following a two-month break Sept. 15. FRITZIE’S BOY broke outward and then made a wide bid before flattening out to finish a close fifth in his latest. He was previously a distant second behind the future stakes winner Mr Havercamp.

FOURTH RACE

ERADICATOR has worked nicely since his disappointing local bow in a mile and a sixteenth maiden special, and could have these $25K maidens within his sights. Turning back to a sprint might work in his favor. U S ACADEMY saved ground two starts back en route to running third in a six-furlong maiden special on the lawn. Throw out his recent fade job in a Tapeta sprint. HURRICANE BEAR is descending from maiden special company, while cutting back to a distance which seems a bit short for him. Use the 3yo underneath in exotics, along with the debuting MIDNITE SNACKATTAK, who’s by the excellent turf sire Silent Name.

FIFTH RACE

EGYPTIAN DANCER stalked in third before hitting the front in the stretch and then got caught late when she dropped to this $40K price Sept. 22. She’s worked decently in the interim, and shouldn’t be held off much longer. LA VIE EN ROSE is turning back off a prominent fourth in a mile and a 70-yard maiden special, which was won by the promising Avie’s Mineshaft. This is her first try in the selling ranks. POWER POP had worked well prior to his lackluster opener in a five-furlong dash at this price. With blinkers on, he’s eligible to show much more here off the claim.

SIXTH RACE

SABLE ISLAND battled three-wide for the lead on the turn before giving way late to a closer in his encouraging debut. His trainer has had some success with maiden second-timers, and this one shouldn’t mind stretching out from five to six furlongs. JACK STRAIGHT improved significantly second-time out three weeks ago, when a clear second behind the heavy favorite. His outside draw is a negative, but he should have a say in the outcome. Use MR. CHEERFUL and firsttimer STORMY ACTION underneath in all vertical wagers.

SEVENTH RACE

STRUT N STOMP is plunging to a new seasonal low off a 10-length loss behind the future G1 winner Johnny Bear in the Halton Stakes, in which the 12-furlong distance was too far for him. Turning back to about nine furlongs should enable him to win for the first time since last year’s Halton, which was run over a mile. MONEY TALKER is eligible to improve second-time after a long layoff in his first try off the McKnight claim, a high-

percentage angle. BIG YUM should welcome the cooler fall weather, and could be speed threat on the stretchout.

EIGHTH RACE

BE VEWY VEWY QUIET suffered his first loss last time when a close third over an anti-speed track in the open Colin Stakes. He’s meeting Ontario-sired stock in this six-furlong stakes, with trainer Tiller’s go-to rider Da Silva taking over. ROYAL LASER took the long way home from fifth to win his slow-paced debut in a longer OS maiden special weight sprint. Contreras, who retains the mount, won half of the eight races on Friday’s quality card. LATONKA missed the break before closing strongly from eighth to win his six-furlong opener going away, with just a 46 Beyer.

NINTH RACE

ATYPICAL was stuck in traffic for about half the stretch before finishing a close sixth in a shorter $12.5K starter allowance Sept. 15. A mile is ideal for the steady 6yo, who worked five-eighths a week ago for a hot trainer. BEYOND SMART defeated ATYPICAL when a close third after a three-wide trip in the aforementioned event, from which the popular winner Gentleman Jackson exited to just miss in a $10K claimer. MIND MAGIC came from off slow splits to lose by a head when switching to the turf in a recent $20K seller. Save FOREST BROTHER for the lower rungs of the exotics.
