Mohawk Jackpot Hi-5 Analysis

Iʼm centering my entire bet around two horses. While he is far from a lock, (4) DUBIOUS CLAIM was able to post consecutive wins in this class two and three starts back and only failed last week due to sitting behind a slow pace. Having to go first-over chasing a half-mile time that is two seconds slower than the typical race for this class wasnʼt a recipe for success. As long as driver Paul MacDonell keeps him within striking range, he looks like the one to beat. Heʼll be my key in the first position. Iʼm quite intrigued by the prospects of (1) REBELLIOUS. When outside of Ontario Sire Stakes competition recently he has turned in top efforts, including a win on August 25 and a second on September 25. While he steps up slightly from NW2 to NW3, I think he can handle it with any decent trip. Beyond the top two, there are a half-dozen others who could win given the right trip and most definitely need to be on all tickets. (2) KAZIMOTO finished strongly in the same race as the top choice after a ground-saving trip. There is room for improvement. (3) PREPPY ART posted a career best mile here last time and seemed to respond nicely to the driver chance to McNair. This will be a nice test for him but the gelding could be up to it. (5) ROLLAROUNDTHEWORLD has two solid races in this class and should get involved again. (8) TOXICITY missed a couple of months but came back with a win last time. The 3-year-old could be tough if he takes a step forward. (11) THIS IS MY SONG didnʼt respond on the bump up to NW3 last time. He deserves another shot. (12) PENZANCE HANOVER has three starts at this level without success at first look, but last time he was well back in the same slow-paced mile as the top pick and prior to that he did all the work before tiring. On paper he can compete.
