BEST BET: RACE 7, CHARLIE’S SECRET

FIRST RACE

Status of turf course was in question for today’s card at press time. DELICIOUS PURSUIT certainly bred for the inner by Speighstown out of a mare who was a G3 winner on sod. Shows a gap in works on the farm from 7/29-8/30 which is cause for some concern. Would tab board for further clues. The same goes with WILD IN RED a homebred owned in part by her trainer who sports a decent looking work resume’ for debut and is by Wildcat Heir out of a mare who won on grass. SALSA RITA dons shades after showing brief speed in bow in a field from which two of the three who have since returned to race returned as winners.

SECOND RACE

MONEY OR LOVE entered main track only off a nice second place finish behind Breeders’ Cup bound Curlin’s Approval and would prove major beneficiary if this one switches to dirt. JOSDESANIMAUX back to allowance ranks for first time since last winter and appears to be the controlling speed if hustled along from the outset. RIGHTEOUS RUTH a lightly raced but promising sort who gets a class check trying to extend current win streak to three. Inside Out looked good breezing over main track last weekend but away since May and at the mercy of the pace.

THIRD RACE

LIL MS PERFECTION broke poorly from the rail, recovered to turn in solid deffort in her only previous start now draws extreme outside post and eligible to handle the class hike with expected improvement. CARUCA likewise had trouble at the start, fanned very wide turning for home, was also second best at first asking and another likely to move forward off that try. TAJELIHA the third member of this lineup who overcame a less than clean trip to be a bridesmaid in only previous start and with a big Beyer advantage albeit in a race switched from turf to dirt.

FOURTH RACE

ANOTHER SOFTBALL knocking on the door at the present time while cycling to top form, would prefer on turf but has shown some promise on dirt as well. DI MAESTRO drops to weakest level yet, fits nicely in this spot if this one remains on sod but with no published works at press time since last start on 9/1 and thus should really not be allowed to start. ROWDY DOWDY made a little middle-move, flattened out late while facing slightly better on 9/1 and ready for best yet with a bit more patient handling.

FIFTH RACE

RACHEL’S WARRIOR exits career best showing over this course earlier in session and need only repeat that kind of effort to earn diploma with these. EXPLOSIVE BAND had a bit of a strange trip while easily outlasting preferred choice for second money in pair’s previous encounter, must not bounce after big forward returning in less than two weeks. GASPARILLA TROVE a hanging sort stuck in second gear at the current time. Logical but must side again at a short price especially on stretch to 7/8’s.

SIXTH RACE

ARISTTELES entered main track only off a big maiden win under similar circumstances here just two weeks earlier. Expecting a similar performance if this one switched to the dirt. ESPRESSO CALIENTE continues to improve with experience, rallied off soft pace to win maiden at 3rd asking, looking for another forward move turf or dirt today. FLYING LIBERTY hard to fault off his first two outings but might not have the luxury of getting loose on such a relatively slow pace as he did on graduation day. Just trying to beat at the short price.
