FIRST RACE

PARIANNE is a filly facing boys but she owns the best Beyer Speed Figure, which came at the distance, and she gets in with a feather. If she can handle what figures to be a sloppy track she could be the winner of what appears to be a wide-open event. RED DENIM also gets in light and he should get plenty of stamina from his sire who won nine roués. He also has speed and should get a nice trip from a forward position. Not sure what was bothering ACT UP in his second start but he ran well in his debut and he edged Red Denim by a neck in his latest. He is the first foal out of sprint-winning mare but his sire won eight routes.

SECOND RACE

CITRON KID goes for the hat trick and his latest came going 11-furlongs so we can assume he can go this far. He’s also perfect on wet tracks and he beat most of these in his latest. WHAT GOES AROUND won the only time he went 1 1/2 miles and he just missed to the top pick in his latest. He is also getting a positive weight shift in his favor and his win at the distance came running over a sloppy track. No surprise if he’s the winner. PERFECTLY RECKLESS lacks the winning habit but he’s usually in the mix and should be part of any exotics ticket.

THIRD RACE

RAIDER won’t mind the move back to a sprint after finishing second in her first route attempt in the $100,000 Fantasy Sept 30. She will also appreciate not having to face Here’s Hannah, who is easily the best 2-year-old filly in Western Canada. UNDER PAR was impressive winning her debut going 3 1/2 furlongs and has trained forwardly while preparing for her first try in a two-turn sprint. She’s likely the one they will have to run down. SONOMA hopped at the start when she finished third behind Here’s Hannah and RAIDER in the $100K Sadie Diamond Futurity. She could round out the exacta with a better beginning.

FOURTH RACE

NOTIS THE JEWELL improved dramatically when she started going around three turns and she was very impressive winning the Grade 3 Ballerina for her fourth straight win. The only concern is she did have an honest pace to work with in her three stakes wins and that might not be the case here. Nonethless, she is clearly the horse to beat. EXIT SIXTY SLEW is also on a roll with back-to-back wins at Emerald Downs for trainer Blaine Wright. She could be the one the have to run down, but she’s versatile and can sit off the speed like she did in her win over Citizen Kitty in the Washington Cup Filly or Mare race. YUKON BELLE likes it wet and is probably better off stalking instead of pressing the pace like she did in her fourth-place finish in the Ballerina. SAILING FOR THE SUN should be part of any exotics ticket.

FIFTH RACE

WISE MARKET came back to work a bullet half-mile after gamely winning the $100,000 Ascot Graduation in his first route attempt. Considering he won the $100,000 Jack Diamond Futurity going 6 1/2 furlongs over a sloppy track he should be fine with the cutback in distance and the likely wet conditions. WEEKEND WIZARD got off to a poor start when he finished behind WISE MARKET in the Futurity and came back with an impressive win as the heavy chalk in a MSW race Sept. 24. He could be dangerous with Hamel retraining the mount. EUROPEAN, a close third in the Futurity, should appreciate the move back to a sprint after coming up empty in the Ascot. SLEW’S DA BOSS should be rolling late.

SIXTH RACE

CRAZY PROPHET won this race in the slop last year and appears to be peaking at the right time with a runner-up finish in the Grade 3, $100,000 B. C. Premiers. There should also be an honest enough pace to set up his good late move. POWER CORRUPT was a very impressive front-running winner over a couple of former stakes winners in a $25K optional-claiming race Oct. 1, and is capable of stalking speed that doesn’t figure to last. LORD VANCOUVER misfired in the S. W. Randall Plate but he won the CTHS Sales Stakes in his previous start and has been a sharp horse in the mornings lately. His best race puts him right there and like the top two, he can handle a wet track.

SEVENTH RACE

FREE AND FAST was a romping winner over easier and should be able to handle the small jump from a n2L to a n3L. She also didn’t embarrass her self when she finished fourth behind the sensational Daz Lin Dawn in the CTHS Sales Stakes in her previous race. BELLI GIRL is also coming off an easy win in her latest. She wasn’t much of threat when she ran against the top pick two-back, though. FOREVER CRYSTAL should be rolling late, and considering she has been part of the tri in all of her seven starts at the meet at the very least she should be part of any exotics ticket.

EIGHTH RACE

GOLD GIRL is back with her own sex after fading against the boys, and in her previous start she was facing winners. Focus on her race three back at this level and she looks like a major player in what appears to be a wide-open event to close out the meet. FUTURE GAMES was coming off a layoff when she was the runner-up at this level and is eligible to move forward enough in her second start back to win this. PRETTY SOON ran evenly in the same race FUTURE GAMES exits and could be dangerous in her second straight sprint. She also makes her first start for a trainer who has heated up lately. That’s it for the year. Have a good winter.
