BEST BET: RACE 8, NOT THAT I RECALL FIRST RACE

MO ROCK likes this distance but loves this dirt. Other speed is a worry but this guy just looks too good for these. TIMBERFALLER ran well the last time he tried this tricky distance and it was two back. Let’s say he needed his return try to some extent. He doesn’t have to have the lead to run well. SKYDREAMIN is the best of the rest.

SECOND RACE

CANDUCHARLIE got an 87 Beyer Speed Figure when last seen on this dirt. And that wasn’t an outlier as four of his last five local figs have been in the 80’s. We have already seen some Belterra shippers win locally. Versatile style is yet another plus. SERBIAN SYCLONE beat better at Canterbury only two back. Maybe 6 1/2 furlongs was a tad far for this guy last out or maybe he wasn’t acclimated to his new surroundings. We are expecting much better today and at what is his favorite distance. MAK’N A KOWBOY was in good form in New Mexico and has won twice on this dirt. He should be at least fourth choice on the tote.

THIRD RACE

Not sure what the point of writing this condition for this race is other than to confuse novice fans even more. HUNTERWOOD POINT is the default pick. He has won 8 times in career and has some decent figs. You could say that six furlongs is a better distance for him especially at this age and we wouldn’t argue. PEETA may have needed his return try to some extent. His last two local starts before the layoff were Beyers of 42 and 52. That certainly fits here. KING DOLLAR is a grinder and maybe that is enough to clunk up for the show dough. Turf to dirt is something no one else can say.

FOURTH RACE

BIG ALICE is bred to like the grass but hasn’t done that much in four prior grass starts. With that said, her most recent was a Beyer top and it was first time this turf. Race flow is average so no help there. Second time this sod is a plus as is a hot barn in Juan Silva. COME ON COZZENE gets back to the grass something she rather likes. Local tab is hard to miss at 7-3-1-2. A nice confidence boost last out in a dirt sprint versus easier. BEAR FACTS ran OK last out and can improve a notch in this spot. She went favored last out for a reason. Can’t fault anyone that circles her name today. KODIANNE is by a 6% debut turf sire. Her dam went 4-0-0-0 on the green. Both sibs won on the weeds.

FIFTH RACE

FIN DE SEMAINE has never missed the exacta on this dirt. Work tab is perfect and we love that six furlong bullet on the 23rd. Race flow isn’t much help but we think this guy’s A game is just a tad better than everyone else. HIGH SECURITY has only raced 8 times and is a 5YO so connections are quite careful with him. That’s fine. Is he better on the grass? If so, that hurts a bit today. He might be the speed in here and an early breather could go a long way. EXEMPLAR did win nicely in his most recent but why only race once at Cby? Local works are just fine and he does get to save all the early ground.

SIXTH RACE

PAPA DE GATTO is the fresh face for team Diodoro. We like that this guy’s new barn doesn’t drop him to the bottom of the class ladder. Other speed is a small worry. UNFOLDED MAGIC had some big figs before the long layoff. The Mendoza barn is 25% with new runners. Local works are fine. Long layoff is the main concern. STRONG VALUES is a SoCal shipper that can fire fresh. Stalking style could mean a great trip if things break just right.

SEVENTH RACE

TOP HAT WILDCAT just didn’t care for Cby. Class drop is a biggie and this race didn’t come up that tough. This 3YO may not be done improving and this is the time of the year that the youngsters get real good. HENNESSY STORM has hit the board on this sod in 6 of 7 starts. Trainer stats are great across the board. Here is another good runner on the class drop. NOON didn’t do much at Cby but maybe he didn’t like it there. Best efforts have come on this sod. He will be a nice price for sure. MINERSINGSTHEBLUES is by a 3% debut turf sire. Her dam never tried the green. Lone grass sib is

7-0-2-1 for 4K. CELESTIALCHRISTINA is by a 5% debut turf sire. Her dam went 3-0-1-0 on the green for $5,660. Lone sib never tried the weeds. PROMISING WISH is by a 10% debut turf sire. Her dam never tried the green. Two of five sibs won on the grass and both beat winners. Full sister Sing it Up is 19-2-4-3 on the sod for 45K.

EIGHTH RACE

NOT THAT I RECALL is the EZ pick and best bet of the day and week. We think she hated the humid conditions in Texas. Notice that connections keep her where she can’t be claimed. She can fire fresh and is a fine sprinter. Works are perfectly spaced. She has enough races so that this rail start shouldn’t be a problem. FLOWER HEART DEER is a SoCal invader that did break her maiden at Del Mar. The Tollett barn is 36% with new runners. This filly could show some tactical speed. DRAFTY BREEZE did try tougher maidens in her debut. You can’t fault her second start and that was way back in April. She has to be more mature now. First Lasix is a big deal.
