BEST BET: RACE 4, MIGHTY MINI

FIRST RACE

HIS NAME IS SUE is a question mark on the turf but he hails from a barn which does well with turf sprinters and he comes off a race that’s a clear and complete throwout; sire clicks at 17% with his runner trying turf for the first time. ROSES IN THE SOUTH may be the filly to beat despite meeting males after a solid try in her turf debut, where she finished 2nd after prompting the pace; that rating ability will come in handy if the pace is fast and contested. LITHIUM Z ran deceptively well in his first start against winners, prompting the pace in a race which set up well for the closers; proven grass ability adds to the ability.

SECOND RACE

PLANET ROCK is easy to like after missing by just a head in her latest, at this same level, and though she goes longer here she ran well in defeat when sent a mile two back; she’s quick from the gate but she can also take back and make one run. GRACE B could prove to be the one to catch from the rail, as she does have the speed to contend from the start; looks like one of these two for the lead, and a controlled pace could lead to a two-speed exacta. SAINTE THERESE stretches out and should be prominent from the start.

THIRD RACE

MODERN TALE has a poor overall win percentage but he seems to fit here based on his best figures, and he has room to move up here in his first start off the claim for a barn which wins at 27% with new faces; tactical speed a plus. REGAL FORCE always runs well over this course, and he’s clearly in good form, having hit the board in each of his last five; Beyers he posted here last year give him strong credibility. BINGO BANGO BONGO is a stone closer but if he gets a little pace help he looms dangerous late, as he has some of the better figures in the field.

FOURTH RACE

MIGHTY MINI is widest but she may also be quick- est out of the gate, and she can steal this if she’s able to shake loose and back down the fractions; she’s been away but the barn excels with runners off this type of intermediate layoff. URUGUAIAN PRINCESS comes out of sprints and goes long for the first time; barn has solid stats with last-out winners. FLYING GIRL has speed and the rail and she figures to be prominent right from the break.

FIFTH RACE

HUAQUECHULA has some of the best Beyers in the field and she has two recent wins at this same level, two back and four back; she’ll be looking to close, so she’ll need to work out a trip from the rail, but given that she should be a factor in the lane. LAPANTALONES FANCE is another runner with solid figures, including that most recent running line; the layoff is a slight concern, as she hasn’t run her best races off the bench, but trainer Joyce Kielty has solid stats with this type. CALI CAT benefited from the race flow when 2nd in her most recent turf test but she has to be respected off the Beyer she posted there.

SIXTH RACE

OVER LIMIT was no match for the winner but he just missed the place in that last one, and two back he was unable to last after making a premature bid in a race which set up well for the closers; may be able to make the last run with the right kind of set up. CHOVANES makes his first start off the claim for a barn which is winning at 45% with same, which makes him a top contender by default; the fact that he has speed and the rail also helps the

cause, obviously. TEMPIETTO, third in each of his last four starts, figures to make a late bid and pick up a share given faster fractions than he got in his last pair.

SEVENTH RACE

QUEENS QUARTERS had some traffic trouble in her latest and she was against the race flow two back, as the speeds held the edge, designated by the bold “S” in the DRF running line; has room to take a big step forward today given a clean trip and a favorable pace scenario. ALEX’S PARTY saw her modest two-race win streak snapped in her latest but she didn’t run badly there, and the Beyer she posted gives her some credibility; dangerous if she runs back to the figure she posted two back. PILLANGO has speed and should be prominent from the start; she was no threat as the favorite last time but she is clearly better suited to the turf, and that race was switched to the main track.

EIGHTH RACE

FERGIELICIOUS was unable to make the lead in her latest, and she was in four straight races featuring a good amount of speed in her prior tries, but she figures to be on or near the lead in this sprint, which is a little light on pace; expecting her to rebound here. MURRAY’S GIRL is the other main pace candidate, and she could prove tough here with a forward trip; she may want longer but if she stays close and the fractions are controlled she’ll have an edge on the stone closers. TRUGE rallied smartly up the rail to win her latest going away; could prove to be the main threat in the lane once again.

NINTH RACE

EROTIC KISS was caught up in a race-long duel in her debut and she had to deal with a slow start two back, and that gives her excuses in her two turf tries to date; hoping she can take back and make a late bid, as there’s a decent amount of early zip in this finale. FAST MOMENT is another who would appreciate a pace battle up front; switches to the green for a trainer who is lethal under these conditions, though she does figure to take some money. OVER THE MOON FOR PINK could be the main speed, and her dam did win on the turf; she weakened despite a loose lead in that last one but she had to work hard to get to the front.
