ANALYSIS

BEST BET: RACE 10, OCEAN COURT

-

FIRST RACE

TOMATO BISQUE has chased some of the leading 2yo fillies on the grounds, including Grace and Dignity and Early Light. She’s shortening up from six to five furlongs, a distance over which her speed should be deadly. BIENVILLE STREET has worked nicely. She’s by a high-percentage debut sire, but her dam has been a poor producer. BERNATINA showed marked improvement second-time out when second after flashing early foot.

SECOND RACE

CHILLED MILK rallied inside for second when changing surfaces to the grass and dropping to $25K five weeks ago. She’s bred to run on, and could make the grade in this OS/$40K route. Off a narrow loss traveling three-quarters, EDISTO ISLAND is arguably the one to fear most, but the daughter of Bellamy Road is questionable going this far. KLASSY DELIGHT wound up third for the fifth time in a recent turf mile. She doesn’t mind the Tapeta when she’s on her game.

THIRD RACE

LOVE IN THE FOREST returned from a long layoff Sept. 27 to finish second to a rival who eventually won a NW3 OS allowance/$40K claimer with an 81 Beyer. He figures to be the controlling speed here following another break, and could go all the way. BEN LOMOND missed the break from the onehole before landing on the edges in an identical spot just eight days ago. Contreras takes over on the Silvera runner. THE YOUNG LORD has worked quickly for his return from a layoff, and could make some noise with the addition of Lasix and blinkers.

FOURTH RACE

LAPOCHKA began slowly before finishing on the fringes in each of his last two tries at this N1X class, which came after a game second in another N1X. He’s shedding the hood for the move back to the grass while picking up Hernandez, who has excellent numbers for this trainer. ROYAL INTRIGUE rallied strongly after a tardy start last time to just miss in a nine-furlong N1X. He resides in a live barn, which is 2 for 6 at the meet when using Husbands. COLTON’S CORNER is stretching out after three straight seconds on the grass. Use him underneath in vertical wagers, along with CARLOS SIXES and ARTHUR’S PASS.

FIFTH RACE

MY RAY OF SUNSHINE gave the others about a three-length head-start last time before closing wide from off slow splits for second on a speedfavoring track. She’s moving up a little in value, but shouldn’t be out of her league. GINGER CANDY ran evenly for fourth among two next-out winners in a similar spot Oct. 22, and Da Silva stays aboard. RAINBOWS AHEAD is dropping from $20K to a logical spot. Use the turnbacker IRIS WILL in the tri and super.

SIXTH RACE

POQUITO BANDITO prevailed in a front-end duel before coming up just a half-length short when bet down to 3-1 at first asking. The half-brother to stakes winner Too Many Egbert’s is moving out from five to six furlongs, and should be better for the experience. TIMESKIP rallied belatedly on the outside after breaking awkwardly when debuting in the same Oct. 28 maiden special. He should appreciate the additional ground. First-timer LOOSELY BREWED drew the undesirable one-hole, but the gelding has worked well for a trainer who can have one ready.

SEVENTH RACE

IMAGE OF LUCY mounted a five-wide rally to beat $10K B opposition at a huge price after getting away slowly in her latest. She has some speed to chase in this open $10K seller, and could strike again.

SOLON’S WARNING wired $10K NW3 types the last she saw action Sept. 27. She’s worked twice leading up to this event, in which she might have to deal with TIMBERLINE on the engine. AUNT

SUE was a beaten favorite when third for $5K just 11 days ago, but is a good fit here from a Beyer perspective.

EIGHTH RACE

GIGANTIC BREEZE got a dream run along the rail from last to take the $200K Presque Isle Downs Mile by four lengths with a 96 Beyer Sept. 17. He was previously competitive against MELMICH here in G3 stakes company. ME LMICH is unbeaten in five starts on the year, four of which were stakes, while earning an average Beyer of 95. The closer has some speed to chase in this tiny field. TALE OF THE NILE is making his first start for leading trainer Casse following a narrow loss in an allowance with no conditions at PID. He’s worked well over the local Tapeta, on which he finished fourth behind the mighty Pink Lloyd in the G3 Vigil in July.

NINTH RACE

KEEP YOUR HEAD UP is the lone speed on paper in this seven-furlong optional claimer, and could go coast-to-coast if sufficiently cranked up off the layoff. Garcia was aboard for her two N1X/optionalclaiming scores against 3yos in the spring. WEST L. A. GIRL lagged behind the field before mounting a wide rally for third in a similar spot Oct. 14. BLURRICANE closed wide for second in that same event, from which the razor-sharp winner exited to romp in an optional claimer on the grass.

TENTH RACE

OCEAN COURT has been knocking on the door in the lower maiden ranks, and appears to have found a field that she can topple. Top jock Da Silva is back for the mount on the daughter of Court Vision. LAKE MANITOU placed in each of her last three outings, including a pair of thirds behind the top pick. CALLIELIKEDHERBREW figures to be a minor player. FROST DELAY is a wild card in her first two-turn start on a synthetic surface.
