SEVENTH RACE

NEW WORLD is another runner from the barn of Michael Stidham who shows up at the meet with solid works for his seasonal debut; Stidham has started out very strongly at the meet, and this colt should be expected to improve upon his dull Laurel debut. CLIFDEN impressed with a late run in his local bow, rallying well in a race which did not feature a great deal of speed in the field; the one to beat. GASAWAY was well off the board in his last two but the resulting Beyers put him in the mix today.

EIGHTH RACE

ROMAN HOLIDAY is out of Romacaca, a multiple graded stakes winner on the green, and she has been training well enough to suggest she has some ability; barn shows a flat-bet profit with debut runners. DRACONIC TREASURE has run well enough in three starts thus far despite finishing off the board each time, and the Beyers she has posted make her a threat in her first start in a couple of months; ability to lead or rate gives jockey Pablo Morales some options. SAVOUR THE MOMENT also fits well enough in terms of his speed figures, and she’s a logical threat as she ships in from Kentucky.

NINTH RACE

JOKERS QUEEN was no threat in either of her two Tampa starts to date but she was against a strong bias two back and she didn’t get much pace help in her latest; she also galloped out well in that last one. COOTIE ALERT was 2nd when in the same race as the top pick last time, and she’s obviously a threat right back at the same level; should be rolling late. OLA YOLA was also in that same sprint, and though she was wide on the turn she was moving well enough through the lane.

TENTH RACE

BLACK PRONG didn’t win any of his four starts on the turf but he didn’t run badly in any of those starts, either; adds blinkers for this, and the barn does well with that angle; dangerous given honest splits up front. BOMBONERO will be tough if he’s able to scratch in off the AE list, as he has steady Beyers and they fit well with the top contenders in here; main stretch danger if he gets to start. GIANT’S PASSION has some speed and the rail, and he figures to be prominent from the start under Centeno.
