BEST BET: RACE 10, ACCOLADE

FIRST RACE

AS IT HAPPENS turned in credible bow on the lawn despite getting bumped after the break and hung wide, beating 7 of 11 rivals and has since returned with a decent looking main track drill suggesting he’ll be ready for a winning effor tgoing turf to dirt in the opener. ADIOS LITTLE ED one of two new faces to a pretty weak category and barn can certainly have one ready off the bench. Wouldn’t have to be much. UNCLE MACE looks like the quickest of the bunch if he leaves running from the outside. Might get brave.

SECOND RACE

MISS MASERATI second best despite a slow start in crosstown finale and perhaps the one to catch if away cleanly this time around. LADY COVENTRY gets some much needed class relief but a bit of a question at the distance. E Z’S MISTRESS also facing weakest bunch yet off the layoff and trainer change but a beaten favorite in each of her last four starts. Might fare better with this kind.

THIRD RACE

PICARA broke about 5 lengths behind the field from tough inside post, recovered to loop post, register impressive debut tally and eligible for better especially if able to leave with the others. Catches what figures to be a very honest pace in this spot. MIZ MAYHEM got pinched back inside ROSES IN THE SOUTH, came out wide to re-challenge while failing to switch leads through the stretch in pair’s previous encounter. Might avenge that setback at a little price. Rose in the South the logical choice off a pair of well graded and improved tallies over GPW turf. Just a question of whether she can repeat the question over local sod with some additional pace pressure and at what figures to be a very short price.

FOURTH RACE

SHEIKH OF SHEIKHS and CLASSIC ROCK coming off extended vacations but both working very forwardly for their returns. Former, G3 placed here earlier in his career, also a first time gelding and perhaps capable of stalking, picking up the pieces at the end. Classic Rock breaking watches in the a.m. while working with and now running sans blinkers today. One to fear. ICATIRO loves this track and in new hands off the claim. Got used up in extended speed duel trying a mile last time, should come running late on turn back to this distance.

FIFTH RACE

GOLD LACE back with conditioned claimers after holding own with decent starter allowance types in N Y finale. Figures to race forwardly throughout with this group. SOUTHERN SIS chased winner first three and then five wide in latest, perhaps at her best when able to stick her head in front ala well graded score two back. BITACORA pace dependent but back in a more suitable spot if not needing one making her first start since middle of August.

SIXTH RACE

ROYAL BLESSING well placed in for the tag against a field of mostly limited winners. Held own with much better last time hanging in there until midstretch going a mile and one sixteenth. Too good for these. BENEFACTOR made the first move, hung a bit late when second best over a yielding turf course in Ky finale. Pretty consistent sort from a Beyer standppoint on turf and dirt. Looks best of the others. LEMONIST makes second start since Feb. while dropping out of stakes company for first time since being DQ’d from apparent allowance win here a year ago. Top connections hard to ignore.

SEVENTH RACE

NOTAPRADAPRICE second best behind Benevais(won Ginger Brew here last winter) two back at Suffolk, a bit overmatched last out at Parx, nicely spotted to get back on winning track with a trip over a course she’s handled extremely well in the past. KYLLA INSTINCT comes up for a straight tag for first time since shipping to the states earlier in the season, classes up with with this group. GRACEFUL HEART been freshened since beating a notch softer 10/9 at Gulf West. Will have to step up with a bit stronger effort to continue winning ways.

EIGHTH RACE

MOJO’S QUEEN get considerable class relief returning to conditioned claiming level after getting pinned between horses, taking up briefly near quarter pole while overmatched in Claiming Crown. Best should have her up in time. BAND OF ANGELS may prove speed of speed if away running in local bow. MAJESTIC MIST well spotted off popular victory at GPW for very high percentage barn. Well posted on rail, figures forwardly placed from the outset once again.

NINTH RACE

Hoping LIZA STAR might take advantage of her sprint speed and the rail to lead these a merry chase stretching to a mile for the first time today. HELEN VIRGINIA improved here this summer but a bit of a question having been idled longer than usual, nearly three months, since her last start off career best effort. Perhaps vulnerable as the likely favorite. STARSHIP TRIBBLES easily handled Helen Virginia on graduation day and now returning to perhaps her favorite surface off a couple of average looking efforts on grass.

TENTH RACE

ACCOLADE, the day’s best, a major disappointing going a mile at GPW but getting blinkers for turn back to five-eighths, a profitable move for Clement barn over the years. Should come running late in a race that figures to collapse at the end. LITTLE PLUMBER speed of the speed, one to catch if she handles the turf. NONSUCH another who should relish the switch to grass being out of above turf sire Kantharos.
