BEST BET: RACE 5, REVOLVER SESSIONS

FIRST RACE

HALFBACK was behind KOKO SWAG two back but he spotted position to that rival and was never able to recover; he responded with a sharp score in his latest and given a better set up than he got two back he can turn the tables on the favorite today. KOKO SWAG is the one to catch and beat; he gave way last time after setting the pace on a loose lead but those were swift fractions, and he had to work to get clear. FLASH ATTACK benefited from perfect positioning in that last score but given his inside post and tactical speed he could be in a similar spot today.

SECOND RACE

STABLEFORD rallied nicely when 2nd in that last one, showing a newfound rating gear, and he should be nicely set up today, as there’s a fair amount of speed to his inside; Beyers fit nicely. FORMAL SUMMATION merits respect off those last couple of figures; he was loose on the lead in that last one but he has come from just off the pace effectively as well. GOOD SAMURAI didn’t run to some decent works in his first start off the layoff but he could find himself in a good spot here, given his closing style and the expected race flow.

THIRD RACE

PRISON PADRE was left with too much to do when caught well off the pace in his latest but he can stay close if need be, and given the relative lack of speed in this field that would be an edge; price should be right. MISSION AWARENESS merits a look based on the Beyer he posted in the maiden win two back; he was moving deceptively well through the lane in that last one. DECISIVE BOSS lost his best chance due to traffic issues in his first start off the layoff; returns to his best surface, where he can better use his tactical speed.

FOURTH RACE

SOCAROO settled for the show in his first start against winners but he actually ran quite well there, as he was against the race flow, which favored speeds; can make the last run here given a better set-up in terms of pace. EL COJO PAA is one of the expected speeds, and he could prove tough to reel in if he’s able to get away with reasonable splits; resulting Beyer puts him in the mix. EL MAYITO benefited from the race flow but he deserves respect off that solid effort regardless; lone win was on turf but he proved in that last one that he handles dirt.

FIFTH RACE

REVOLVER SESSIONS was off the board when behind a few of these the last time she sprinted on the grass but that wasn’t all that bad an effort, as she made a middle move there before she flattened out; may look to make the lead this time around. NINA’S PATIENCE was in that same race, and while she, too, was off the board she was left with a lot to go, and she was moving well late as she galloped out nicely past the wire; should be a price. DREAM A LITTLE prompted the pace and held the place when in the same race as the top pair last time; logical enough off that line.

SIXTH RACE

JOLEE was overmatched in that last one, against a strong group in a race that came up faster than par, and she was against the pace scenario two back when she rallied strongly to just miss; should get a favorable set-up here, given the presence of several speeds to her outside. PINK MAMA has won eight of her last nine on the main track, including her latest as the 1/5 favorite; clearly one to strongly consider, though she was surprisingly all out in that last run. RENEE’S CAT always runs her race here, and she’s obviously in very good form off that last couple of lines; should be prominent from the start.

SEVENTH RACE

INDUSTRIAL LOGIC is kin to two starters, both winners, including Storm Star, who won his own career debut; dam was a multiple stakes winner, posting six of her seven winners on the turf. BIG AGENDA was a close 2nd in each of his last two starts, and the figures he posted make him the main danger; dam’s lone win was on the grass. NAKAMURA is the first starter from the dam, who was winless in five starts, but he has trained steadily for this and the connections give him instant credibility.

EIGHTH RACE

CHARCUTERIE was game in that maiden win last time out, and the Beyer she posted there makes her a threat in her first start against winners; she also could have a pace edge here as the main speed. DESSERT HONEYS makes her seasonal debut in this optional claimer, and with her last start coming in the Grade 2 Golden Rod she clearly has to be strongly considered; main concern is she probably wants more ground, which suggests that this sprint could be a prep. PURE PRAISE is in for a tag for the first time, and though she’s been away since August this may simply be the best level for her; versatile enough to lead or rate.

NINTH RACE

FOR MY MOM ran well for 2nd in each of her last two starts, and though she was no threat in her first two starts off the layoff she certainly seems to be rounding into form; may be able to make the last run given a clean trip and an honest pace. DIVA CHICK was a close-up third in a promising turf debut last time; should be prominent from the start once again. GIRL POWDER has the tactical speed to stay close but she has also proven she has a decent late kick under the right circumstances.
