BEST BET: RACE 3, ST. PADRIAG

FIRST RACE

SUPER BEAU ran well in defeat in each of his last two tries going long, including the race two back, when he pressed the early pace in a race which set up well for the closers, and three back, closing with interest and galloping out strongly; fits based on those Beyers. MARRAKECH takes a short step up after beating non-winners of a race in six months, and he’s clearly a threat on the strength of that effort, and the resulting figure; tactical speed adds to the appeal. OVER THE LIMIT was far back in his first start off the claim, when he tried to come from off the pace, but he figures to be more involved from the start today.

SECOND RACE

MANDEL drops in class, from a Maiden Special Weight race to a maiden claimer, and makes his 2nd career start, two very powerful angles for trainer Arnaud Delacour; dam won five turf races, including her own debut on the surface, and this colt is expected to improve here with blinkers added. LET ME LOOSE moved up in his 2nd career start, aided in large part by an alert break, as a slow start cost him in his debut; dangerous here with another step forward. MIDDLE OF NOWHERE is stuck at the end of the AE list but if he gets in he looms tough, as he has some of the best figures in the field.

THIRD RACE

ST. PADRIAG was re-claimed out of his latest by trained Edwin Diaz Jr., who lost him through the claim box two back, and though he rises in class for this he fits well in terms of Beyers; he was also very impressive visually in that last score. FANCY MAN comes off sprints and should be expected to be involved from the start on this stretch out; another high-percentage barn. NATIVE HAWK has some of the best figures in the field; he comes off a race where he was a remote 2nd but the winner, Snuggley Bear, is in very good form at the moment.

FOURTH RACE

DYNASHE was 2nd in a sprint in her latest but she posted her lone win in a route, and she looms the main speed in this relatively paceless race; very tough to reel in if she’s able to get loose easily enough. COOTIE ALERT is a little obvious coming off a narrow loss in a similar spot; may be the main danger in the lane. FLAMENCO TIGER put it all together at a big price in her latest, and if she can run back to that figure she merits a look in here, at least as an exotics contender.

FIFTH RACE

SHE’LL FLY AWAY showed a bit of late interest in that last one, an abbreviated sprint, and she may appreciate today’s added distance; should be running late, and given a quick, contested pace she may be able to make the last run at a square price. IMAGINABLE has mostly been turfing but her most recent effort on the main track wasn’t bad at all; has license to move way up in her first start off the claim for a barn which wins at a high rate with same. THEOREM is clearly dangerous today, coming off a tough loss in a similar spot in her debut; short price looms despite the fact that she benefited from perfect positioning in that first try.

SIXTH RACE

MEILLEUR took full advantage of a favorable race flow to win that last one on the lead, drawing off
