BEST BET: RACE 2, MAKING HAVOC

FIRST RACE

MISS ALIPHANT could return quick dividends off the claim returning to the turf after proving no match for runaway winner Close the Deal last out on dirt, the latter coming back to finish 3rd in a $35 starter race in her next start. MICHELLE’Z LAUGH on the improve, dangerous witih another forward move. BEACON OF LIGHT debuts off series of okay works and lures J. Ortiz for bow. Barn does not own high marks with their debut runners.

SECOND RACE

MAKING HAVOC, the day’s best, a seven time winner well spotted in an N3L race taking advantage of the added condition of not having won since September. Actually it’s been a long time between winner’s circle visits but think she should be able to run away from these if away clean on the rail. LADY COVENTRY knocking on the door with this kind on both turf and dirt but another who has not seen the winner’s circle since 2016. NILE PRINCESS goes turf to dirt, might run iin late for minor share.

THIRD RACE

ONE OF A KIND was hung wide both turns from impossible post, did well to finish second under similar conditions last month after a horror trip in previous start. Ready to get job done at this level with clean sailing. MR. PAPILLON ran well following eventful start in his latest and obvious a good fit with this kind. DANCER’S EDGE gets some class relief, a new pilot, expecting improvement.

FOURTH RACE

PLEIN AIR gets shaky nod despite stepping up a notch to N3L company off another strong effort, this distance, two weeks earlier. SPECIALCNSYDRATION back with conditioned claimers for first time on grass since near miss last fall at Woodbine. Sould be good fit with these. Will throw a line through BOSSYATTA’s last when hooked in early speed duel, previous pair mark him a contender from advantageous inside post.

FIFTH RACE

Lots of guesswork with this short field with five of the six first time starters. AUTOSTRADE from top connections and a $400,000 2yo purchase who seemed to be working forwardly for his bow. D SQUARED another new face by win early sire Speightstown. Posted bullet half at PM for this. CRAFTY JACK logical off another improved showing being Mott trained firster Penalty two weeks earlier.

SIXTH RACE

TOP HAT CITY drops to weakest level yet after finishing mid-pack vs. better two weeks earlier. Should relish the class relief. OFFSHORE TRIP an improving sort whose recent maiden tally flattered when runner-up ran off to easy maiden win of his own on Thursday. ARPINELLA finished best of all vs. same kind on turn back to 5/8’s. Will need some help up front.

SEVENTH RACE

BURTON adds blinkers, drops to weakest level yet trying to snap unenviable string of beaten favorite outings. Barn’s fortunes on upswing of late. One last chance. KING WILDCAT the one to fear coming off far and away his best yet vs similar. WE TAKE CHECKS looks like he could get loose on the lead if aggresively handled. Might get brave, hang on for a share.

EIGHTH RACE

SHAMROCK BABE was hung wide throughout from awful post, flashed improvement despite the trip and could be sitting on best yet with two under his belt. One of numerous potential win threats in this head scratcher of a maiden turf event. JOY OF TREASURE one of many Kitten’s Joys in the lineup and another who seems to be improving with experience. KENSINGTON perhaps the best bred of the bunch also by Kitten’s Joy and a hlaf to G1 winner Winchester as well as multiple G3 winner Middleburg. Ran well enough at first asking to prove a major threat with likely improvement.

NINTH RACE

FARCICAL FELINE in peak form at the present time, well spotted with N1X allowance/optional claiming types. MISCHIEVOUS CHAMP just failed to last exiting lengthy vacation under similar conditions on 2/2, hard to ignore if able to repeat or improve on that effort. SUMMER LUCK the class of the field but away since turning in a somewhat disappointing effort in lone try vs. older rivals. Perhaps vulnerable at another short price.

TENTH RACE

FIRST DISTINCTION was 2-5 and easily outsprinted this same kind two back, hard to look past with a similar effort. VENTINA exiting even easier win vs. open $6,250 rivals albeit at a mile. Must prove mettle on turn back to 3/4’s off claim. LOVING VALENTINA ran down preferred choice earlier this meeting, has changed hands twice via claim box since. Dangerous with the right pace scenario.

ELEVENTH RACnEd

CRY UNCLE a $450K yearling purchase who has shown some real speed in the a.m. at PM and barn can have one ready to score at first asking. Tabbing board for further clues. GEMINI worked lights out last summer at Saratoga only to lose all chance ini bow right at the start. Worth a look at what figures to be a much more agreeable price in 3yo bow if fit enough with only four recorded works under her belt in preparation for return. SHANGHAI SHUFFLE sporting top J/T/O connections, hard to leave out of the equation from these folks.

TWELFTH RACE

ADULATION has never quite lived up to early expectations and with a bit of hang in him so far but perhaps the class of the field especially if able to repeat any of his better efforts like that 3rd place finish 2 lengths behind Eight Town last fall at Keeneland. Works say he looks ready for a big one today on turn back to six furlongs. THE HARDEST WAY exiting career best try behind speedy Harryhee, one to catch if able to repeat that performance. UNO MAS MODELO turned in even effort vs. starter types in local bow, may improve with one over the track.

THIRTEENTH RACE

MOMENTA KAT has not had the best of trips in each of his last two tries at this same level, can be along in finale with cleaner sailing under meet’s top jock. CAPTAIN CAROL adds blinkers, likely to be over bet with Irad taking the call but ran too well despite brutal trip last time to ignore with this bunch. WAY OVER BUDGET raced evenly in debut now getting some class relief for second outing. Improvement likely.
