BEST BET: RACE 5, SILLY SISTER

FIRST RACE

FULL SALUTE won first two dirt sprints when returned to NY last summer off a layoff, and he got into a tougher race off the claim before turned over to Gargan; like him cutting back to sprint for this after trying a mile vs. better in his first two starts for this barn, including that last one where he tried to challenge Daddy D T (91 Beyer) on the lead around the turn. ALRIGHT ALRIGHT ran a series of good races when brought to NY early last year, including that race two back on May 3rd where he contested a fast pace in a race that was closed down strongly late by Pulling G’s; long layoff following the claim obviously a drawback. HEAVEN’S RUNWAY has been shopping for a spot for a while now but has always been entered for a tag as he looks to start back from a long layoff of his own; clearly going to be tough if he can still run, and if he is ready off the bench. SUMMER BOURBON of some interest off the Rudy claim, but being coupled with HEAVEN’S RUNWAY makes him tough to bet real money on.

SECOND RACE

GLEASON and GO GET THE MUNNY sport similar profiles as second-time starters exiting dominant maiden wins over seven-eighths, where they both threw their ears straight up in the air once making the lead as though they had more to give. GLEASON attended a fast pace before easily going clear at Tampa, and the horse he overpowered on the lead returned to improve his Beyer 17 points to a 78 in his next start. Liked the way GO GET THE MUNNY settled early after jumping well from the gate in his debut, and he went on to an easy win while posting the top figure in this field by a clear margin and appearing to have a future. CALIFORNIA NIGHT defeated just three others in his debut and did so with the benefit of a clear early lead, and he was then no match for some better horses in the Jimmy Winkfield in his second start; back to his available condition as he tries the mile.

THIRD RACE

D J’S FAVORITE brought $200k after solid-looking breeze at OBS last June, and she has some pedi- gree to back her up as the first foal from her stakeswinning dam; appears to be training well into this first start, which will come vs. a modest group over a mile. MISS MI MI couldn’t make an impact vs. what turned out to be a solid field of maidens at Tampa in her second career start, but she did improve her figure to a level that projects to make her tough in this spot, and that was after encountering some trouble in her underrated debut effort. OOZLE was part of a heavily-bet entry first time out along with runner-up Lady Subee, who had experience, and she was left behind in the stretch after briefly racing up to challenge the leaders around the turn; can do better with that one out of the way. CREATIVE PRINCESS a Pletcher firster by Uncle Mo to take seriously, especially if she gets bet; ships up from Florida with a long series of works showing, including a spin over turf last month.

FOURTH RACE

SPRING EMPEROR likely to need his best vs. field of three-life claimers who are, for the most part, faster than he on the way in, but his back-to-back wins on dirt toward the end of last year were both solid efforts, and he has since been in a couple of unfavorable circumstances (no chance with a dominant winner who gave that field no chance two starts back, and he caught a muddy track last time in a race that featured no closing at all). KARMA DELIGHT has bombed vs. better in his last two starts, but his form prior to trying those tougher spots make him the horse to beat in here; top figure win three back over this distance was accomplished with an easy trip while up on the pace with distance-challenged Scarf It Down in a race where they did not go hard after each other early. KENYAN has been most effective as a closing sprinter so far, but he has been in decent form since returning from a layoff and liked his effort last time when trying to close in a race that was dominated up on the front end.
