BEST BET: RACE 13, FUEL THE BERN

FIRST RACE

GO CRISTIAN GO comes off a couople of big tries at Tampa, the last time behind odds on Vici who is a solid turf sprinter with a couple of 2nd place finishes against high level allow. optional claimers last summer at the Spa on resume’. Looks like the speed of the speed if he leaves running. MAI TY ONE ON turns back to a sprint for the first time since posting solid second last summer at Parx. In good form. Should be motoring at the end. STARSHIP WILDCAT has maybe tailed off a notch of late but still hard to ignore with this kind.

SECOND RACE

MISS CASUARINA ran well in her debut behind odds on favorite and class dropping winner while a pole ahead of the rest of the field. Might just handle the hike to this level with expected improvement. Y’ALL puts blinkers back on while staying put for new connections off the claim. Burnt plenty of chalk in claiming bow but deserves a second chance with same kind. CHARMING EMMY comes up tagged for first time off the layoff for new barn, cannot ignore at this level.

THIRD RACE

THE ROBERT has been hung very wide in each of his last two starts now drops to the bottom, lures Castellano, holds enough of a class edge to finally graduate for this tag. CLARET JUG has pretty much paired up Beyer tops in last two, could be ready to break through to a new high today. One to fear. HOWDY BOY got away with a relatively soft pace last time, still could not last and may not see the lead as readily if Mr Mac sent along from the get go.

FOURTH RACE

AMACE the big question mark in this one, whether he’ll run as well for new connections off the claim as he did for Navarro barn in all recent starts. Might be able to control this one from gate to wire in a race lacking much in the way of any real early foot. COXSWAIN no match for preferred choice last time but has a little early foot himself and could spring the upset if he gets upper hand early and favorite doesn’t fire best shot. PAIR PAIR TIE a late running sort who should relish this shorter, more compact lineup. Sleeper if getting any help up front.

FIFTH RACE

RHYTHM PARK totally over-matched last time now returns to the turf for first time since turning in big effort behind old pro Royal Blessing, who just won a $25K starter here with a 91 Beyer, last fall at Indiana Downs. Ortiz stays. Working well. Should prove too classy for these. . PERFORMANCE BONUS steps into open company for the first time off the claim for potent barn, might handle the class hike in his present form. MEGEVE just missed with same kind several weeks earlier. Must respect right back with similar.

SIXTH RACE

MISS JAK debuts against pretty weak bunch off decent looking series of works incuding a couple of bullets last month at GPW. Barn has good marks with this kind. SOL DAT SUGAR drops to bottom, lures Ortiz returning to a surface she’s handled well in the past. SUNSET EMPIRE another new face to soft category. Training off the farm recently after showing some promising works last fall in La. Could be this good.

SEVENTH RACE

TOO WILD TO REPENT angled well wide off the turn, proved no match for NIGHT RYTHM in pair’s previous encounter but eligible to turn the tables with cleaner sailing in rematch. The latter the logical choice in present form although did benefit some last time when several in field were eliminated due to a spill down backstretch. HAIL TO VICTORY was one of the ones who lost all chance due to the spill on 3/2. Dons shades while coming back vs. same kind. Worth tossing in at a price for new connections.

EIGHTH RACE

CENTRAL COMMAND brought nearly $600K at the sales for top connections by Into MIschief and the first foal out of an un-raced Empire Maker mare. Works are solid. Must overcome tough draw for beginners. SCRAPPER the logical choice after dropping debut to subsequent stakes winner Diamond Oops while miles clear of the others. Adds blinkers for return. FAST TALKING another new face who has shown promise in the a.m. although mare was better on turf than dirt.

NINTH RACE

MISTRESS OFTHEDARK has been forwardly prepared for local bow by new barn and well spotted to make big splash right off the back in this turf dash. Has the speed to sit the perfect stalking trip behind usually faint-hearted Fallen Leaf. CAN’TCATCHTHERAXX had burnt a ton of chalk this far this winter but still the one to fear with the inside draw. MISSIMARD another getting some class relief, can come running late on turn back to five panels.

TENTH RACE

SNIPER KITTEN ran a corker at first asking, steadying with run in late stretch behind 3-2 Funny Duck. Continues to train forwardly, can be along with forward move off debut. SOLID the logical choice off anything shown to date. Was second best behind even money Fast Boat in only previous two turn try and note Ortiz runs from top choice for this mount. Key question his ability to stay the ground. THE GREEN MO’STER had little excuse switching to grass on 2/24 but continues to improve, hard to ignore returning vs. same kind.

ELEVENTH RACE

RICH MOMMY stumbled briefly after the start, failed to show her usual speed, turned in huge effort after losing considerable ground turning for home to finish 3rd in the Hurricane Bertie. Gets new pilot, catches field lacking much in the way of any real early gas. Might not look back if she breaks running to seize control from the outset. IVY BELL in potent hands for 2018 bow and training extremely well for the outing. Main caveat the fact she has had some gate issues in the past and must break from tough inside post. MOONLIT PROMISE got hung wide throughout pressing pace, faded late in the Hurricane Bertie and another who figures on or with lead throughout today.

TWELFTH RACE

Can toss a blanket over this group. GIVE TO U. K. CATS obviously a big question off the layoff but seems to be training forwardly for return and has the speed to be on or with pace throughout in his return. TROUBLE IN PHOENIX has cycled back to his peak form, ran solid second vs. this same kind first off the claim for hot barn. UNCLE GIO may be best of this group off those last two well graded efforts but must overcome tough post with new pilot aboard. Likewise slow breaking Cruz Diez facing similar issue from his post. Doing extremely well but taking big step up from N2L claiming company.

THIRTEENTH RACE

FUEL THE BERN, the day’s best, drops to winning spot, attracts Ortiz for high percentage barn. Should be forwardly placed throughout. SAHARA STORM also getting much needed class relief for outfit that woke up big time earlier in the week but will have to work out a trip from very compromising post. TIDE OF THE DESERT set pace, faded late in super key race returning to what may be his favorite turf course. Worth tossing in at big balloons for at least a share.
