BEST BET: RACE 10, SOUTHERN GREATNESS

FIRST RACE

STRAIGHT TEQUILA gets the nod at a price in wide open maiden claiming turf dash. turned in even try debuting on dirt at Tampa and with some breeding for the lawn being kin to several inner winners including Man in Demand who is perfect in two starts on sod. Might spring the upset if able to work out a trip from off likely pace of The Other Cat. TRAPPED AT SEA the logical choice off the claim exiting key race on 1/17 and with Saez retaining call for new connections although a bit of a hanging sort in all previous starts.HARDCORE CAT ate dirt early, finished well getting a good schooling in her debut. Should move forward off the effort.

SECOND RACE

OUR GIRL ABBY back for a straight tag, looks well spotted as class of the field with Irad up. LIL BAY CORVETTE hard to fault in her current form and the lone multiple winner in the lineup. STARSHIP ZODIAC the one to catch especially if able to shake loose on turn back to six furlongs.

THIRD RACE

Just trying a couple of new faces in this pretty weak category. AWESOME NONA flashed speed in lone try on dirt and like the fact Saez sees fit to take the call. Must respect with this kind. BRILLIANT DIAL not disgraced against MSW foes despite hesitating at the start, racing wide into stretch in bow but wondering why barn’s first call rider Juarez not taking the mount again in this spot. GRACE B and Reina La Keisy both obvious choices although a combined 0 for 22 lifetime. Former ran game while turning in arguably a career best effort last time surviving 4 horse pace duel to be second best behind class dropping winner.

FOURTH RACE

TERI’S BIG HEART in more suitable spot after being overmatched off the claim for current connections. Ran well in key race two back vs. better. INDYGITA also getting some class relief after having held own with much better starter allowance types in all previous tries. One of many logical contenders in this field. CONQUEST DYNASTY ran well with addition of blinkers back with this kind on 3/4. Another who fits in the mix depending upon trips.

FIFTH RACE

INHIBITION tries main track first time locally after being overmatched on the turf in east coast bow. A 19 race maiden who has held own with much better in the past including Orejas, who nailed him last fall at SA and runs consistently in the high 60’s to mid 70’s Beyer-wise. Need only repeat that type of effort to beat these. GRAN KING OF KINGS knocking on door exiting career best outing last time when easily second best in front of next out grad Burton. PEACE ACCORD looks like the one to catch if away running from the rail. Can’t leave out of the equation somewhere.

SIXTH RACE

BURKE’S GARDEN back to her best game after wanting no part of a mile or the type of company she faced last time. Should get enough speed to run down at her best. CATHARSIS no match for runaway winner in last but holding her form well at this time. FASHION BREAK could prove speed of speed if she handles turf as well as the dirt.

SEVENTH RACE

SIPMYCHARDONNAYNAE has found a home at this level. Disappointed as even money choice last time but had best chances compromised when caught in four horse speed duel and caught late by Lexi’s Doll, who sat off the early leaders. Expect to see her sit back, make same kind of winning run from off pace in this spot. SALSA RITA decent with blinkers on from the gate earlier this month for

new connections off the claim.m May ultimately prove one to catch after pressing extremely fast pace, relatively speaking, last time. COMMISSIONED never better, tossing in for at least a share. GLOBAL ENTRY got away with easy pace last time but capable of rating off the pace as well. In peak form at the current time and a great fit with Castellano aboard. ROYAL BLESSING comes off arguably his best yet beating same kind last time but enough of a hanging sort to try to beat on top at another short price from the outside post. Noting Catellano took off this one to ride preferred choice although losing little with J. Ortiz getting replacement call. CUT TO ORDER comes off what might be a much needed try when rallying belatedly to be 4th of 9 vs. same kind returning from 8 month vacation. Best put him right in mix at end.

NINTH RACE

SLIM SHADEY never better. Got nipped last time by a horse who tossed a career best 96 Beyer at him then returned to run 4th in Grade 3 Canadian. Should be along if he runs his race again. BERN’ JAMES BERN faded late at nine furlongs last time now turns back a bit and very dangerous off the Maker claim. His stablemate SPECIAL OPS also demands much respect off brutal trip as the favorite in well graded starter stakes on 2/17. Can surely spring the upset with repeat of that try in the Claiming Crown.

TENTH RACE

SOUTHERN GREATNESS, the day’s best, was repulsed by the leader, faded late behind red hot Bold Daddy last time, the latter flattering the race winning a $50K starter with an 86 Beyer next time. Should get a great trip either on or stalking pace of Cousin Tino if that one chooses to go early in same manner as last time. DIXIE MAMBO got hung wide both turns last time, must avoid similar fate today but tossed in at a price for upset chance in finale. RULE YOURSELF back to what appears his preferred surface after disappointing as odds on favorite over the main in local bow.
