repeat effort to earn stakes brackets with this group. ONEBRETHATATIME comes off what may have been a much needed try behind preferred choice, looks capable to coming running late to pick up some pieces, fill out the exacta at a little price. ROSES IN THE SOUTH back to the main track and perhaps the speed of speed from the rail.

SEVENTH RACE

ZEFIRO, scratched out of a mile and one sixteenth race for same tag last weekend, looks well spotted off the re-claim with repeat of last behind red hot Uncle B. Should catch plenty of pace to run at in this spot. SEMBLANCE OF ORDER gets a full equipment change having been gelded and adding blinkers for today’s assignment. Another who should be running at the end. GRAN SAMAN stretches back around two turns off a couple of solid sprint showings, was not badly beaten by preferred choice, this distance, last fall at GPW.

EIGHTH RACE

RIDER OF THE BLUE and KING WILDCAT almost inseparable last time and look like the right two wheeling back for same tag at a mile. Latter was hung widest of the pair on 3/11 and getting Irad for re-match. KIKINBOY sheds blinkers after a disappointing try as the tepid choice in local bow. Drops to bottom, deserves a look for this tag.

NINTH RACE

Will probably be able to toss a blanket over many of these at the wire. ONE LUCKY STEP down from Tampa where he was out-kicked to wire by 4-5 Vici in latest. Ran arguably the best rest of his career over this course a couple of years back. Might offer a bit of value amongst all the contenders. IMA WILDCAT set wicked fast pace despite breaking a step or two slow from the hedge, was second best for suddenly in form Mar Vista Miguel when haltered for same tag on 3/1. Could stand some catching if away clean to lead here. OUR INDEPENDENCE hard to knock in current form and likely to get ground saving run from Saez once again. Turned in big effort in defeat behind undefeated Imprimis last time. The latter has shown real promise in his two starts and appears to have changed hands via private purchase since last. Steps up, must overcome outside draw at what figures to be a short price today.

TENTH RACE

ZIPPY WILLY chased more experienced winner Bella Tapisserie(see Hutcheson) while turning in huge effort in career bow. Should prove too fast for these with expected improvement off his debut. AND STILL overcame poor start to turn in game performance launching career on turf now switches to the main and another likely to take step in right direction if able to break cleaner from the rail. ELUSIVE HERO yet another in here second best at first asking behind runaway winner in a field boasting several highly touted 3yos. Just a question of whether he can get up at this shorter distance.

ELEVENTH RACE

ROCKETRY, the day’s best, turned in corking 4yo bow when second best behind graded stakes placed Lucullan(who earned a 97 Beyer that day) going 9 furlongs off the bench. Turns back a sixteenth and should be along with expected improvement and all important clean trip on the turf. CONQUEST SANDMAN must improved of late and looks like the controlling speed with this group. Ran game fourth despite getting involved in protracted pace duel in the G3 Canadian. J R ‘S HOLIDAY wound up in unfamiliar territory, on the lead, trying to stretch to 11 furlongs last time and will certainly not be in that position turning back to more suitable distance here. Looking off big effort at a little price.

TWELFTH RACE

IMPACT PLAYER much improved with addition of blinkers and obviously well suited to seven furlongs. Must avoid potential speed duel if not breaking clean from the rail but likely too fast for these if able to shake loose. TRICKS TO DOO chased Strike Power from the outset, was all in at the quarter pole in futile effort to catch that one, faded late in the Swale. Definitely deserves second chance off the effort with the caveat that he may just not want to stay this far. SOUTACHE training great guns for return and likely to sit off, make one run in a field loaded with speed.

THIRTEENTH RACE

APATOW obviously the class of this field and ran huge in only previous start on turf although must be cognizant of the fact he shows no published works since last start nearly four weeks earlier which is uncharacteristic for Pletcher barn. For those looking to beat the favorite, MASQUERADER worth a try dropping to bottom and with Irad sticking around one more time. Rail draw also a plus at this distance. TRAVY BOY makes third start of form cycle and first on grass. Tossed in as a potential upset threat if able to shake loose, relax long enough on the lead in two turn bow.
