BEST BET: RACE 1, AWESOME DAY

FIRST RACE

The card is led by the Purple Martin, a sprint stakes for 3-year-old fillies. In the opener, AWESOME DAY gets the nod in part because she was favored over starter foes last out at Oaklawn. She gets an N2L spot here and an outside post, the latter of which might give Court options. CLOUDY CLAUDIA meets winners for the first time but owns the field’s best last-race, and career, Beyer Speed Figure. In addition, the runner-up from the race she exits has since won a maiden race at Oaklawn. SOPHIE’S ANGEL was second against similar last out when cutting back from two turns. She could be sharper here, in her second straight sprint start. As for the race SOPHIE’S ANGEL exits, the winner was to run back later on the card in the Purple Martin.

SECOND RACE

ENDLESS BLOOM has been knocking on the door against similar and owns the field’s best last-race Beyer Figure. SASSY OLIVIA ANN might be closer to the pace here than she was last out, when the early fractions were quick. She was favored over some of these last time. SUZY JONES BURROW might be best served if the track is fast.

THIRD RACE

MA’AM has shown versatility in her last two races, winning from both on and off the pace. And, one win came in the slop and the other on a fast track. MA’AM, who owns the field’s best last-race Beyer Figure, is further appealing for the fact that she can be closer to the pace than a number of these. DORODANSA made a big move to the lead at this mile and a sixteenth distance last out then was just edged late and note following the race her rider was given days for misjudging the finish line. (One start earlier the pair had been in a mile race, which ends at the sixteenth pole at Oaklawn.) GIRL POWER can be closer to the pace than she found herself last time. She’s also a fresh horse who worked a bullet five-eighths in her final prep for Saturday.

FOURTH RACE

GOOD WISHES is a consistent sort who seems due to graduate soon. She also has an age and experience edge on some of these. LIZA G. brings excellent speed to the table and her turn of foot should serve her well at this five and a half furlong trip. KANTASTIC has been facing steeper and seems like a strong fit with these.

FIFTH RACE

POINT AFTER is back in the claiming ranks after splitting the field last out in a tough starter. The race was his first since October. STANZA owns a series of competitive Beyer Figures and is making his second start since September. SPIDER’S ALIBI has seen steeper in the past.

SIXTH RACE

STAR’S VALENTINO has been facing tougher starter foes and owns a strong collection of Beyer Figures. He also draws what might prove to be a useful kind of post. FLEET GOLD DIGGER hooked a quality kind of winner last out in a quick race. ACADEMY BAY also comes out of a race that went in good time, while another of interest is VACANZA.

SEVENTH RACE

TWIRLING CINNAMON set quick fractions over a laboring kind of track last out and suspect a fast surface would serve him well as his last win came over such footing. TWIRLING CINNAMON also draws a post that might give Cabrera options. INTERNET SUCCESS is shooting for career win No. 15. He exits a quick race, while ALABAMA TIDE

owns some competitive Beyer Figures.

EIGHTH RACE

BAJAN CASH has class appeal as one who has seen steeper. VILLAGEOFVIBANK set a quick pace when third against starter foes last time and note his last win came for a price similar to this one. CASH BONUS is a fresh horse who owns some strong recent Beyer Figures. COUGAR COUNTRY was prominent over a laboring kind of track last out when just edged by a class winner. More than capable.

NINTH RACE

MIA MISCHIEF is looking for her first stakes win in the Purple Martin after placing in a pair of stakes, among her efforts a game second in the Dixie Belle earlier in the meet at Oaklawn. MIA MISCHIEF owns the field’s best career Beyer Figure and on a pedigree point note her dam is a half-sister to a pair of quick Grade 3 winners in Sing Baby Sing and Roll Hennessy Roll. BUY SELL HOLD defeated males in the $100K Kentucky Juvenile last year at 2. She is back on dirt after a turf stakes appearance at Saratoga in her most recent out and note her third dam produced the multiple Grade 1 winner Lady Tak. MS BROOKLYN BRAWLER is undefeated in two starts, her most recent a romping win in a restricted stakes at Prairie Meadows. She shows some nice works for her first start at Oaklawn.

TENTH RACE

TOASTING MASTER is a consistent sort who should be razor sharp for the move back to two turns off the sprint start. His last win came at this mile trip at Oaklawn. TOASTING MASTER is further appealing as an eight-time winner facing some less-experienced foes. BOLD PROPHET comes off a big race in his first start against winners and for the effort he earned what ranks as one of this field’s best last-race Beyer Figures. STORMINSIDE has kept good company at the meet and now moves back to two turns, where he’s been effective in the past.
