FIRST RACE
The card Saturday features the $100K Rainbow Miss, a six furlong sprint for 3-year-old fillies bred in Arkansas. For the opener, LILT invades from Fair Grounds, where she launched her season with a close-up finish. She has reason to move forward in her second start since December. WHAT A STAR moves back to two turns off a runner-up finish in an allowance sprint that went quite quick. She owns the field’s best last-race Beyer Figure. ECONOMIES OF SCALE can make an impact with a repeat of her effort from December.
SECOND RACE
MCQ is an appealing horse as one who has been a popular claim. GREELEYS CHARM was third against steeper last out. AMAZE is on top of his game, seeking his third straight win.
THIRD RACE
ONLY LIQUOR stepped up and ran one of the best races of his career last out and he might be tough to contain with a repeat of that 87 Beyer Speed Figure. JOHNNY WHIP moves into the starter ranks. He is appealing as a former stakes horse who has won 19 times in his career and banked $555K. Class. OH NEWMAN has been a popular claim and for this out will add blinkers, a high percentage move for Broberg, according to Daily Racing Form statistics.
FOURTH RACE
BLAME WILL stretches back out around two turns and gets pedigree support for the task. He’s hooked a series of quality winners at the meet. MAJOR MUNNINGS was third last out to a stakes winner and the start was this one’s first at two turns. DANGERFIELD was Grade 1-placed at 2.
FIFTH RACE
BAYERD ran a nice race off the bench and has reason to move forward here, in his second out since July. As for the two turns, he’s a winner at the trip. ALL I DO IS DREAM OF YOU was prominent over a laboring kind of track last time. He’s an improving sort who could be sitting on a peak race in his third start off the layoff. More than capable. CASS IN STONE can make an impact with a repeat of his effort from Feb. 4 at Oaklawn.
SIXTH RACE
GETTYSBURG, a workmate for now-retired Horse of the Year Gun Runner, was a close-up fourth last out and for the effort earned what ranks as this field’s best last-race Beyer Speed Figure. He could be sitting on a peak race here, in his third out since September. GRAY SKY has class appeal as one who has seen steeper. MR DARCY is back at two turns off a sprint comeback and he has reason to move forward for both the added ground and the race under his belt.
SEVENTH RACE
TAKE CHARGE DUDE hooked one of the quickest 3-year-olds on the grounds last out in Mitole, finishing second to that one in a sprint that went in 1:09. The third-place finisher in that race was Southern California shipper Ike. PURE SHOT was favored over similar last out and encountered trouble at a key point in the race. He draws what might prove to be a useful post. GRADE ONE has fired some nice races this meet at Oaklawn.
EIGHTH RACE
RAVENS REFLECTION has an experience edge on most of these with two starts. He also owns some solid Beyer Figures. SEVEN NATION ARMY showed speed over a laboring track last time and in that race he was meeting older rivals. He now gets an opportunity with straight 3-year-olds. FREEZE
LINE worked a bullet five-eighths from the gate in his final prep for his debut.
NINTH RACE
FIREWATER ROCKET draws what might prove to be an ideal post, sitting just outside of her fellow pace rivals. She also is appealing for her consistent finishes, and competitive Beyer Figures. FIREWATER ROCKET also has a notable pedigree as her dam was a Grade 3 winner at 2, taking the Arlington-Washington Lassie. DUTCH TREAT is cutting back to one turn and on account of the distance move could be strong through the stretch. Earlier in the meet she took on open company maidens and was just edged by a winner who has since become Grade 2-placed. GEORGIA’S REWARD might get a nice stalking trip behind trio of runners to her inside. USUAL SUSPECT is a half-sister to Weast Hill, a multiple stakes winner who has earned $415K.
TENTH RACE
COUNCIL RULES is back in the straight claiming ranks after winning a starter allowance. She’s seen higher-priced rivals in the past. ALINA’S IMAGE was a clear winner for this price last out. INCLUDERE is back in the claiming ranks after facing steeper.
