BEST BET: RACE 2, GET THE NEWS

FIRST RACE

THREE RING CIRCUS dueled through rapid splits before tiring in his final ‘17 outing, but his speed could be more effective here with Boulanger taking over. CONSTANTINO is back on his favorite surface after struggling on the dirt at Oaklawn during the winter. SWEET LITTLE MAN has a history of running well off the bench.

SECOND RACE

GET THE NEWS got away slowly before finishing a distant third behind the talented duo of Verboten and Silent Poet in his lone 2yo start. The Tapit 3yo has worked nicely leading up to this maiden special, and could beat all the 4yos with the addition of Lasix. ARMAMENT has been freshened since ending up sixth in key maiden special on the Tampa turf Feb. 17. His last two works on the Tapeta were leisurely under Da Silva, who’s back in action following a suspension. ENGLISH CLASSIC resides in a hot layoff barn. His last race in October contained three next-out winners.

THIRD RACE

WAVE DANCER was in decent Polyform prior to a recent double-digit loss on the dirt at Oaklawn. She doesn’t have much to beat in this $10K maiden sprint, and McKnight possesses impressive stats with new shooters. After wintering in Ocala, JUNEBUG JITTERS worked five-eighths from the gate here April 21. She’s bred for speed, and is debuting with blinkers. SPANISH BLESSING is plunging from $40K for her first run of the year.

FOURTH RACE

AZIMUT fought three-wide for the lead on the turn and then put away the other speed before giving way to the classy Dan the Tin Man when returning from a seven-month absence April 22. Winshy CUMMINGS ROAD rallied for second in his ‘17 opener, which was the first of his five runner-up placings last year. Consistent REIMAGINED benefited from an inside bias when he prevailed in an identical spot Dec. 10.

FIFTH RACE

SOUTHERN GREATNESS has come close many times. He was a beaten favorite in each of his last two outings at Gulfstream, but this $16K claimer should be his for the taking. Note that Husbands was aboard for his good efforts on the Tapeta last year. MONETARY SYSTEM looks next best off a troubled fourth in a key $20K turf tilt at Gulfstream March 21. Use COURT BATTLE and FRIENDLY GIANT in the tri and super.

SIXTH RACE

LEOPARD CAT is dropping from $16K NW2 company on the Gulfstream grass to this $10K NW2 tilt, and should have a fitness edge on the field. The best of his two Tapeta races was a lapped-on fourth under Da Silva Nov. 11. D’S DOUBLE EAGLE is moving out from five-eighths to the more suitable distance of seven furlongs for his second race off the shelf. SWITCHBLADE won an $8K maiden dash on opening day, after an unproductive Gulfstream campaign. Use him underneath in the exotics, along with AUGUSTO B.

SEVENTH RACE

ROXY’S VISION ran third behind the likes of Pink Lloyd and Kingsport in his last two starts, in a pair of OS stakes in the fall. The late bloomer has worked okay for his return to action in this

second-level optional claimer. AULT is shortening up after playing the role of a fringe performer on the Gulfstream sod. He worked a bullet the other day. COLONEL SAMSEN has also worked fast on the Tapeta leading up to this engagement. The erratic 4yo could take the cake if he fires his best shot. SLIP KID and BAYERD are also worth a look in this wide open contest.

EIGHTH RACE

MUST BE DREAMING failed to threaten in her lone winter excursion on the dirt at Tampa. She graduated in front-running style on the Tapeta in November, and there isn’t much other speed in this weak N1X. MODUS OPERANDI was along for third in her seven-furlong comeback in a $20K starter, which should set her up nicely for this one. Stretch-runner PHIL’S GLORY can pick up some of the pieces in her first appearance since Dec. 2.

NINTH RACE

LAUDERDALE flattened out to finish three lengths back after a stalking trip when going long on the Golden Gate Tapeta March 16. The son of leading Ontario sire Silent Name is adding blinkers for the turnback to seven-eighths, and should possess a fitness edge on most of these. SHARP BREW wintered in Florida after his juvenile campaign, and could have a say in the outcome. GINGER SKY checked in sixth behind the likes of Silent Sting and Be Vewy Vewy Quiet in the Dec. 9 Kingarvie Stakes. Use him on the bottom of intra-race wagers, along with BERKELEY BOY.

TENTH RACE

STORM RULER was fourth in a tough $50K starter last time out in February at Gulfstream. He was competitive here on the Tapeta in the fall, and should have a fitness advantage on the majority of the opposition. TIMEISEVERYTHING couldn’t keep up in his final ‘17 start on the dirt at Gulfstream, but the Casse charge was previously in solid Tapeta form. DAYLIGHT BREEZE found the mark in his ‘17 season opener after wintering in South Carolina, and could turn the trick again. WAGE ACCELERATION is making his first synthetic track start after a productive winter stint on the Gulfstream turf.
