ANALYSIS

FIRST RACE

DANCING NOELLE is a speedy dropper that goes for winning connections and seems to hold a class advantage; won both times she raced for tags of $12,500 and now she goes for $6,250. MISS STALWART, winless over her last 10 starts, was disappointing last out when sixth but had previously been fourth and fifth in races on the main track here; factor in a weak field if able to replicate that form. STAR MILY set the pace before fading to third last out but could regress here, as she seems unlikely to beat DANCING NOELLE to the lead; could get tired chasing.

SECOND RACE

BOSSYATTA has earned minor awards in three of four starts for her current form, and now looks poised to pick up a victory; consistency edge makes her the top selection. Likely favorite TAPA LIATH gets a pass for fading to sixth most recently when surprisingly dueling for the lead through hot splits; examine her turf form when playing a stalking/closing role and she solid for $12,500 claiming; record padded somewhat by numerous races in NY-bred competition. DON’T TALK BACK was a brave winner last out for this tag, though against N2L competition; now she takes on N3L runners and might find the competition a bit more challenging to defeat.

THIRD RACE

PORTER STREET is a wake-candidate after going unplaced in his last two starts. He takes a needed class drop and also removes blinkers - two changes that should result in a far better effort. GREGORY SUN was wisely rated off hot splits in his latest and after surging to the lead in midstretch, weakened to second. That was a nice effort given how the race unfolded and with him racing on turf for the first time; likely to show more speed here. WHISKEY TRAIN didn’t have a chance against starter runners most recently on the step up from a $16,000 N2l claiming victory and Tampa, and now is fittingly returned to the claiming ranks.

FOURTH RACE

MAKE A LITLE MISCHIEF is by an elite Kentucky sire, Into Mischief, and goes first out for Pletcher and Starlight - or more specifically, their female division, StarLadies; likely has the most potential of these. SWEETSWEETSWEET has the benefit of a race, finishing fourth Apr. 12, and may improve upon that effort, in which she was off poorly and ran into traffic; sold well earlier this year for a daughter of Concord Point, fetching $95,000 at OBS. R PREROGATIVE, in contrast, sold for $45,000 at OBS in March; slow works for the most part, though one three-furlong move on Apr. 27 was quick - a gate drill in 36 seconds flat.

FIFTH RACE

BEECHWOOD regressed Beyerwise in her latest, dropping from a 75 to a 64, but she maintained her sharp form by winning a starter $25,000 race that came off the grass at Tampa. For a filly that seems much better on turf than dirt, that was a fine effort and she should return to a figure in the 70s now that she is back on turf. BAREEQA is a candidate to move up in her second start off a layoff after being away for 5 1/2 months when returning with a fourth Apr. 27; strung together some fast efforts last year in New York; already had 7 wins but is eligible for this one other-than because they were claiming races, starters or NY-bred affairs. JUENESSE DOREE showed potential as a youngster in 2016 but has been sidelined since an eighth in

the Ginger Brew Stakes in January of 2017. Even if fit for her return, there is the possibility than an injury could have slowed her down.

SIXTH RACE

DARWISH did everything but win first out on Mar. 18 for maiden $12,500, dueling throughout and only losing by a neck. confidence is lessened to a degree by a gap in his published workouts from Apr. 6 to May 4. WIZARD JAK comes off a couple solid runs in turf sprints, though the five-furlong distance of those races may have been beneficial to him; faded badly on dirt first out, though inexperience no doubt played a role in that drubbing. MORE ILLUSIONS is a first timer that may prove a factor at first asking for a winning trainer/ jockey combination that has registered 18-percent winners together and a $2.21 ROI together in 2017-2018; quick works, though none longer than a half-mile.

SEVENTH RACE

FLYING GIRL ran behind victorious HIDDEN TO WIN and runner-up BEAUTYOFADAY when they raced in a $6,250 like this one Apr. 20, but perhaps can turn the tables; encouraged that her current barn claimed her back in March after losing her in December; also 6-2-1-1 over the GP strip. HIDDEN TO WIN is obviously the one to beat after winning two straight, including the aforementioned race over BEAUTYOFADAY and FLYING GIRL. That said, she was able to get away with a pretty easy pace in the Apr. 20 start, and a tougher trip here could lead to her slowing a bit. BEAUTYOFADAY did well to rally for second the way that Apr. 20 race unfolded, and though she subsequently struggled in a May 5 race, that came in a six-furlong contest that was shorter than her ideal trip.

EIGHTH RACE

SECRET PLEASURE is aggressively spotted off the claim - dropping from maiden $25,000 to maiden $16,000, even off a runner-up finish - but does at least show steady works; experience and accomplishment edge suggests she wins if she merely maintains her form. FORLOVE was too confidently placed last time for maiden $45,000 after previously running second against maiden $25,000 types and it showed with a distant fifth; forgive that race and two earlier runs resulted in a fourth and a second. GRAN AVENTURA is a first timer with respectable drills for a horse being unveiled for maiden $16,000; plenty of works under her belt, though some gaps in her breezes from Mar. 9 to Apr. 1 and then until Apr. 21/

NINTH RACE

ELIZABETH’S VOW is in sharp form and better drawn than her rivals, landing in post one in this two-turn race going a mile on the grass; seemingly enough speed to set up her closing punch. FAST MAMA owns solid numbers and is likely a little better than what she has shown in her last couple races when having some troubles. Outside draw puts her at rise of a wide trip, though. QUEEN JILL goes first time for a tag and should appreciate dropping from a first-level allowance; concerned that she is returning from a layoff going back to February and shows no published works since Mar. 17.

TENTH RACE

SWEET PARANG came from just off the pace to win a race three starts ago, and perhaps she can be successful with that kind of trip here in what seems a speed-laden field; in-the-money in five of seven dirt starts. WORTH AVENUE has the right style and the qualifications based on her form; the issue with her is being away since August of last year; a right to return at less than her best. SEAN’S IDEA ran well over this track in February and March before a flat fourth Apr. 6; would have liked to have seen some encouraging drills since, but she has not recorded a published workout as of this writing.

ELEVENTH RACE

BIONSAND is an unknown at 7 1/2 furlongs, but if she can run as well doing two turns and she has done in 5-furlong turf races, she has a good opportunity to win vs. a struggling group of maidens; nice draw in post three. GRANDTASTIC NEWS, on the other hand, landed on the far outside - and from there she will need to be much the best to win; respectable fourth and fifths recently, though with better posts. SPIRITED TALE went to the sidelines immediately after being claimed for $25,000 last August; likely a good fit for the grass, though difficult to gauge her fitness off two published drills, accomplished at Oakridge Equine Center.
