BEST BET: RACE 8, DREAMING OF JO JO

FIRST RACE

Approaching this card thinking turf racing might be less likely than more likely considering the weather at press time. THREAT the lone main track only entrant in the opening and coming off a wide open victory on the main track but fitting this condition perfectly since race also written for horses who have not won on turf since mid-November. The same goes for both LOVE FLUTE and TELESA, the former knocking on the door with this kind on grass.

SECOND RACE

SMASH WILLIAMS upset at 3-5 by 14-1 Psychoanalyze debuting last spring in N Y, the latter going on to finish third in the Sanford. Held own with stakes caliber older foe working last month at PBD. DEPUTY CZAR showed promise despite breaking from tough post for beginners in only previous try, another showing promise in the a.m. prepping for his return. THE MIGHTY JUDGE brought $240K as a 2yo at OBS finally makes it to the races. By Curlin out of a SP dam. Poorly drawn for bow but could be a good one.

THIRD RACE

TREV back for a straight tag, looks too fast for this bunch if away running from outside post. MIDWAY PLAYA wired softer N2L’s last time and not likely to see the front end here but must respect in present form. CANTACLARO lost best chance when knocked around at the break trying turf for this tag last time. Back to main, would move well up if track remains on wet side for today’s card.

FOURTH RACE

FAST FACT holding form well on turf but worked well enough over wet main track on 5/4 to warrant much consideration no matter the surface today. SNORING BARTH comes off career best on graduation day over firm turf but handles dirt decently enough in the a.m. should this one switch to the main. SEATTLE TREASURE and Wake Me Up at Noon drop in class but taking on older horses for the first time.

FIFTH RACE

MAGALIE never better. No match for Pletcher’s stakes caliber My Miss Tapit last time but was easily best of the others and should trip out nicely stalking the early pace from her outside post. May have to run down STORMY EMBRACE who has been freshened since turning in career best effort, this distance, trouncing speedy R ANGEL KATELYN on 3/10 at Tampa. The latter bounced back from that setback with big win of her own and always dangerous if allowed to relax long enough on front end.

SIXTH RACE

INSIDE TRIP exits impressive maiden win on turf with blinkers added and working well enough

over wet main track to merit top billing no matter the surface today. PEAKA BALLERINA another who can handle turf and dirt well enough, or so it seems, and could prove dangerous if able to shake loose on an easy lead. PHENOMENAL GEM an improving sort from a Beyer standpoint but taking somewhat suspicious drop in price off the 3/1 claim.

SEVENTH RACE

DIXIE MAMBO may prove best of a bad lot if away clean enough from the rail returning to the main track off a series of solid looking works since his last. RIDER OF THE BLUE knocking on the door at this level, strictly one to fear. MR. SPIKE tries dirt for the first time, might grab a share for top percentage barn.

EIGHTH RACE

DREAMING OF JO JO, the day’s best, aggressively placed off the recent hiatus and huge half mile work here earlier this month. Should prove too fast for these. THREE STAR STONE a first time gelding turning back in distance after tracking early pace, fading late going a mile in his first try with this kind. TREYS MIDNITE MOON gets a mulligan after rearing at the start in local bow.

NINTH RACE

QUANAHS REVENGE could prove controlling speed against this soft bunch turf or dirt. Shaky nod if able to get loose. MORENO MOJO continues to run well on either surface, knocking on the door with this kind. Hard to ignore. LEROI’S GEM consistent from a Beyer standpoint on turf but a non-winning sort who figures to grab minor share again if this one goes on grass as scheduled.

TENTH RACE

HELPING LISA D showed promise in both previous starts and exiting a sharp half-mile drill here last weekend. Third could be the charm. SHANGHAI SHUFFLE outlasted preferred choice for third money in their previous encounter and looked sharp working here as well last weekend. One to fear. GINGER RED a new face who has shown promise in the a.m. Tab board for further clues.

ELEVENTH RACE

With a good chance this one could come off the turf at press time, taking close look at the main track only’s INDIAN SCOUT and OUR SARGE, the former having missed a neck under similar conditions two back and likely a forward factor throughout should this one move to the dirt. Our Sarge hard to fault in his present form but would be a bit of a question on the stretch. TALE OF FANCY the logical choice here if this one goes as scheduled on the main despite being upset by Creaky Cricket in well graded affair last time.

TWELFTH RACE

Once classy DREAM SATURDAY has seen his better days but like found a niche at this level if that last effort any evidence of what to expect in the finale. Should catch plenty of pace to run at once again. SONIDO did well to finish second behind preferred choice despite slow start in their previous match up. PAIR PAIR TIE could come running late for a minor share.
