BEST BET: RACE 7, INSPIRED VOW

FIRST RACE

FAIRY HILL was dead fit after her three-race stint at Oaklawn, and then wound up third as the favorite against N1X 3yo fillies here two weeks ago. She could make all the running in this NW2 OS allowance/$40K route. WHISPERING SPEAKER closed mildly from off slow fractions for third when returning from a winter break in a sevenfurlong sprint at this level. Stretch-runner KADLEY should be along to pick up some of the pieces in her first run of the year.

SECOND RACE

REAL POINT came from sixth to beat maiden special opposition going seven-eighths in her encouraging comeback. She had a troubled run when fifth the only time she went long, and deserves a mulligan here with leading rider Hernandez aboard. ROSEMERE beat NW3 OS allowance types after a lovely stalking trip over seven furlongs April 28. She’s bred to be a miler, and deserves another chance going long. LADIES NIGHT is back on her favorite surface after barely picking up her feet in a key dirt route at Keeneland.

THIRD RACE

STRIKE REVENGE began slowly before closing for third, over a turf course that favored frontrunners and stalkers, the only time he saw action last Sept. 23. The 4yo should be prominent in this six-furlong turf sprint, if he gets away cleanly. First-time Lasix-user DOWNY BOY is by the superb grass sire More Than Ready. After a tardy start, he rallied for second in his five-furlong debut on the Tapeta. ATLANTIC CROSSING worked fast the other day, and should improve on his dull seasonal bow on the main track.

FOURTH RACE

BAKERSFIELD got caught late after hitting the front in the stretch in a shorter sprint at this level April 22. That was his first race after an extended layoff, and it should set him up nicely for this engagement. CANADA WISE DON faded in deep stretch after setting a fast pace in his return from a winter break. He’s no stranger to rounding out the exacta. ETHANATOR peaked in the fall before getting a winter vacation in Ocala, and might need one.

FIFTH RACE

DESDEMONA landed on the edges behind the likes of Jack’s Memory and Zestina in her final 2yo outing, which came on the heels of a second on debut. She’s worked quickly this spring, and seems ready to roll with Boulanger up. PIPER’S LEGACY got wiped out at the break before making up some ground in her only race Dec. 9. The 4yo half-sister to Plate Trial winner Pipers Thunder is going on Lasix. AFLEET CONNECTION broke outward and then stalked the leaders before tiring in her comeback, a race she probably needed.

SIXTH RACE

POWER NAP ran hot and cold during the winter on the dirt at Aqueduct. The stalker/closer has lots of speed to chase in this $10K starter, and should be dangerous if he takes to the Tapeta. VILLAGEOFVIBANK was softened up in a front-end duel in several of his Oaklawn engagements. The veteran is back on his favorite surface, and should be the speed of the speed. The popular 20-time winner GENTLEMAN JACKSON is making his 11yo bow after posting several bullet works on the training track.

SEVENTH RACE

INSPIRED VOW broke her maiden two back in front-running style on the turf at Gulfstream, and is exiting a respectable third in an N1X turf sprint at Keeneland. With the rail out in lane 5, she

could lead all the way in her first try for McKnight, a high-percentage angle. BLACK CANARY took the long way home en route to finishing second ahead of the top pick in the aforementioned April 18 race at Keeneland. She’s since worked fast here and should be prominent in her second start after sabbatical. ALICE’S WAR prefers the grass, so it was encouraging to see her finish a lapped-on third in her comeback on the Tapeta.

EIGHTH RACE

DIXIE MOON had some excuses for her recent subpar showing over yielding ground in a G2 stakes at Keeneland. She’s unbeaten in two starts on the Tapeta, and should get back on track after working a good five-eighths with her older halfbrother, Guy Caballero, last Saturday. GO NONI GO has been freshened since a daylight score traveling a mile in the G3 Bourbonette Oaks on Turfway’s Polytrack, which was her first synthetic track start. AVIE’S MINESHAFT is moving out to an appropriate distance with a seven-furlong tightener under her girth. Like DIXIE MOON, she’s prepping for the $500K WO Oaks. GLAMANATION, another Oaks nominee, is stretching out with a blend of speed and stamina in her pedigree.

NINTH RACE

AURORA WAY couldn’t keep up last time in a G3 stakes on the dirt at Keeneland. He’s a much better fit in this second-level optional claimer on the Tapeta, which he handled adequately last year. LOOKIN FOR EIGHT is coming off a layoff, which began after he struggled in a Jan. 21 optional event on the dirt at the Fair Grounds. He worked fiveeighths on the Tapeta the other day, and should be in the hunt. DECORATED SOLDIER is another shipper making his first start on synthetics. The classy 5yo is eligible to improve by leaps and bounds off the $20K claim by leading trainer McKnight.

TENTH RACE

FAHRENHEIT closed wide for fourth over an insidefavoring track in his lone start on closing day of the 2017 meet. The Colebrook Farm homebred has worked extensively this spring, and should make some noise with blinkers on. TIMESKIP rallied for third in each of his last two ‘17 outings. He could join the fray while stretching out a little for his second race off the shelf. SONNY’S BLVD placed in both of his 2yo races. Use him underneath in the exotics, along with FLASHY TRIAL and FAST NEGOTIATIONS.
