ANALYSIS
FIRST RACE
SYLLABLE could win the first maiden 2yo dash of the meet. The Mark Casse charge is a half-sister to the talented 3yo debut winner Telekinesis, who just missed taking the G3 Lexington at Keeneland in April. MY GAL BETTY is by turf expert Point of Entry, who’s gotten 12% first-out 2yo winners. Her dam produced two debut winners, most notably stakes winner America America. GOLDEN GARTER, like MY GAL BETTY, was developed at Payson Park in Florida. She’s among the first starters for G1 BC Mile victor Goldencents, and her dam’s lone foal to race is the stakes-placed 2yo Ladies Night.
SECOND RACE
MAJESTIC HEIST was a fringe player at Laurel before an off-the-pace score in a five-furlong tilt for $10K NW2 stock here April 22. His fitness advantage makes him the one to fear most in this $10K B sprint. CORRYVRECHAN has worked okay, and nearly got the job at this level in the fall. CANADIAN CLASS is another comebacker who could have a say in the outcome.
THIRD RACE
MEXICAN HAT was competitive in handicaps on synthetics last year in France, and could be taking an edge in this mile and a sixteenth maiden special on the Tapeta. The well-bred 4yo’s trainer has solid numbers pertaining to this situation. SHOW GIRL is moving out to a suitable distance off a troubled run going seven-eighths which followed a freshening. MYSTIC NILE placed in several two-turn routes on the Tapeta in the fall. She could round out the tri in her second start back.
FOURTH RACE
BELLA FABIANA flattened out to fourth after a fivemonth absence vs. $20K B distaffers May 4. The drop to this $10K B event is significant, and she should be prominent with Boulanger back in the saddle. BREWS TOONIE TOSS struggled at Tampa, but is being reunited with McKnight, who sent her out to beat $10K NW2 rivals after a troubled trip here Dec. 10. MISS MEW closed wide for third after getting away slowly in a shorter sprint at this level three weeks ago.
FIFTH RACE
COURT VERDICT is plunging from a key OS maiden special/$40K claimer, and figures to wire these $10K maidens at a short price. He worked decently the other day, and Da Silva picks up the mount. After wintering at Gulfstream, WE TAKE CHECKS finished a clear second as the favorite here in a recent five-furlong dash. He’s questionable over the six and a half-furlong distance of this contest. I’SE DUBAI wound up eighth among three next-out winners vs. $20K maidens Dec. 1. Use him on the bottom of vertical bets, along with TIMEFORASTAR.
SIXTH RACE
IT’S FATE ran well in both of his 2yo starts here vs. maidens on the turf under Da Silva. He wintered in Florida, and the first-time gelding is sent out by an accomplished layoff trainer. NEEPAWA ran fifth in back-to-back turf stakes in March at Gulfstream, where he graduated with ease Jan. 27. He was second in his lone synthetic track excursion in the restricted Coronation Futurity. COOLER MIKE, like the top two picks, is nominated to the Queen’s Plate. He was a close second in his comeback to O’Kratos, who subsequently won the G3 Marine with an 82 Beyer. “Mike” might be at his best in longer sprints, and it will be interesting to see how he does going long here with blinkers on. MARCH TO THE ARCH is a wild card in his first non-turf start.
SEVENTH RACE
HONOR AND TRUST ran down a sharp The Craic when annexing an N1X turf sprint last time out Sept. 23. She’s worked fast this spring, and should be ready to roll under regular rider Husbands. KASUGA was recently reunited with the trainer
