BEST BET: RACE 8, TOWER OF TEXAS

FIRST RACE

SHE’S GOT FIRE possesses the highest recent Beyers in the field, a pair of 60s. She rallied fourwide for second in a recent seven-furlong sprint, and is bred to go long on the main track. H. M. S. PINAFORE is also lengthening out in distance with the pedigree of a router, and figures to be a speed threat. BEAR PAW landed on the edges behind the top pick at first asking May 5, and has the credentials to negotiate the stretchout.

SECOND RACE

PRIDDY FAIR pressed a slow pace en route to a daylight score when traveling this seven-panel distance at a notch lower a month ago. She’s worked twice in the interim, and should strike again if things go her way. ALILACTION came charging on the outside from well back to beat $6.25K distaffers following an extended layoff May 12. The move out from six to seven furlongs won’t be to her detriment. STORMBEAM was along for third behind the latter in her first appearance in about two months that same day.

THIRD RACE

KYLLA INSTINCT has been somewhat disappointing since she nearly upset the mighty Holy Helena in a Feb. 4 optional claimer at Gulfstream. She’s back on a course that she adores under leading rider Hernandez, who piloted her in a front-running victory last July. HAVANA DREAM was in decent FG form prior to a ninth-place finish April 11 at Keeneland—most of the horses who finished ahead of her then have since run well. GILDED SPLINTERS set soft fractions before tiring to second in a nine-furlong route at this level the last time she saw action Nov. 17. She could make most of the running under Da Silva.

FOURTH RACE

JACK’S MEMORY missed the break before closing wide from left field for third in her comeback. The lightly-raced 3yo is meeting older rivals for the first time, but could mow down all the speed. HEART RUSH placed in each of her last two outings after vying for the lead. She rarely runs a bad one, and should be prominent in her second start off the bench. CINDERVELLA hit the board for the first time in a while in her opener. Use her underneath in the exotics, along with DILLY DALLY DARBY.

FIFTH RACE

MARITIME BREEZE is bred to be precocious, and the homebred has worked nicely for a successful first-out trainer. Her outside draw is a negative, but perhaps Da Silva can hustle her out of the gate and into a good early position. SAILING BY prepped in Ocala at Mark Casse’s training center before working quickly from the gate here last month. CRUMLIN TIME, like SAILING BY, is by the low-percentage 2yo debut sire Sligo Bay. She’s a half-sister to restricted juvenile stakes winners Resentless and Isabella Bay. QUEEN ANDHER COURT could improve with that race under her girth.

SIXTH RACE

GREENFIELD has worked encouragingly here on the Tapeta since beating $25K NW2 stock on the Tampa turf March 17. He has a fitness edge on most of these, and should be along for a high placing. WAGE ACCELERATION performed well on the Gulfstream turf prior to coming up empty in key NW3 OS allowance/$40K claimer on the main track here May 6. ROCKET PLAN is exiting the same key race, while switching to a surface he can handle. CAPE ROCO was competitive against lesser $20K NW2 types on the grass last summer.

SEVENTH RACE

ELUSIVE MISCHIEF got an 82 Beyer when romping

second-time out on the Fair Grounds sod, and a subsequent dirt experiment at Keeneland is a toss. He had a very wide trip when sixth most recently in a five-furlong turf stakes at Churchill, and should get back on track in this N1X. HOOCHIECOOCHIE SAM rallied wide on his left lead for third when returning from the sidelines in an identical spot. His lone lackluster performance came in a two turn stakes. ELLAS MY LOVE parlayed an inside trip into a workmanlike score over OS allowance stock in his latest. LOUISIANA PURCHASE has yet to run back to his sharp debut, but could topple the lot if he does.

EIGHTH RACE

TOWER OF TEXAS captured this G2 stakes in a gutsy display last year, and has maintained solid form ever since. The veteran is dropping out of a tough G1 at Keeneland won by Heart to Heart, who subsequently lost a heartbreaker in the G1 Shoemaker Mile at Santa Anita. YORKTON figures to shake loose on the lead, and could take this field a long way at a big price if the course is kind to speed. CONQUEST PANTHERA closed outside for second last time in a seven-furlong stakes at Belmont. He’s 2 for 3 over this course, which included a seven-furlong triumph in the G2 Play the King. FORGE has been competitive against the likes of World Approval and Heart to Heart, but has yet to notch a stakes.

NINTH RACE

HOLD’EM FORRANSOM never fired as the 9-10 favorite in his disappointing comeback, but the 4yo deserves a mulligan in this similar N1X. He can track the speed to his inside before making a bid in his first try under a hot Boulanger. CONQUEST SWAGMAN rode a speed bias to an authoritative win over $10K starter allowance types May 19, but RIO NORTE might soften him up in the early going. After wintering at Tampa, ARMAMENT came wide in the lane after saving ground to beat maiden special rivals here a month ago.

TENTH RACE

FABULIST began slowly before closing from far back for third in her $10K debut on the main track. The 4yo is bred for the grass, top and bottom, and could break through vs. these $16K maidens.

JOSEPHINE is halving in value for her second start of the season. One of her better performances was a stalking third in her lone turf outing vs. maiden special foes. Use GIOVANNA nd PONTI underneath in the exotics, along with the debuting TEN K DIVA, who’s a half-sister to four grass winners.
