BEST BET: RACE 5, MADAME UNO

FIRST RACE

GIANT’S VOICE knocking on door with this kind and even better and ready to finally get back on winning track with clean sailing in opener. ABBOT should get a nice trip stalking preferred one from the outset, might handle the jump to open company in current form. BINGO KITTEN returns to favorite surface after a couple of tries on the main track, eligible to wake up, run down top pair with return to best form.

SECOND RACE

FIRST OFF and IS THAT MAGIC both appear to have shown enough in the a.m. to merit long looks debuting in this spot. Would tab board for further clues. Both ironically sons of First Dude. ASHLIE NICOLE adds blinkers while again showing big speed in the a.m. Drops, ready for best yet with the equipment change.

THIRD RACE

Looks like there should be enough pace in this one to set up SUNFEST’s late run dropping to weakest level yet. PERMITTED a lightly raced sort who likely needed her last at five furlongs. Another who should relish the class relief. MAURAS FOREVER missed a neck rallying belatedly vs. same kind 3 back. Another late running, win threat in here.

FOURTH RACE

SAMOA broke slow, was asked hard early, forced to alter courses, continued well to just miss second money behind runaway winner in much needed bow. Should benefit from the experience. GERRYS BIG WIN a dangerous looking new face who has shown promise in the a.m. for high percentage connections. CHARLOTTE THE BRIT also debuts for top confections after flashing big speed from the gate in latest work.

FIFTH RACE

MADAME UNO, the day’s best, back to state bred company after getting hung wide while not badly beaten vs. open competition in the Powder Break. Best too good for these. BITACORA hard to fault in her current form, would likely prove major beneficiary if preferred choice gets hooked in early pace battle. WARRANTY idle since changing hands after winning her third straight earlier this winter. Could need one off the bench.

SIXTH RACE

DASH OF DAZZLE drops to what appears to be a weaker than usual bottom level open claimer, should possess enough class to be along in time with any help up front. AMACE has already won this category a couple of times this season and eligible to improve off last when losing best chance at the break. TEA AND CRICKET might prove quickest of the bunch if away running from his outside gate. Could be one to catch.

SEVENTH RACE

JOURNEY TO HEAVEN flashed some promise in debut now switches to the turf, a surface for which she has enough breeding to merit much respect in this weak spot. COUNT ARCHIBALD flashed big improvement at second asking albeit in a race which did tie up at the end. Big danger with another forward move. NONNO NINO returns to her preferred surface, hard to leave out of equation for at least a share.

EIGHTH RACE

Will defer to the more experienced CAJUN EMBERS who was a major disappointment last time off promising bow behind recently stakes placed Sombeyay. Returned on short rest for his last now with 5 weeks between starts and big work on June 2 to suggest best may be forthcoming. ELUSIVE RO looks best of the new faces, a $75K purchase with plenty of work under his belt prepping for bow. Barn using go to rider for the occasion. FRIENDLY FELLA shows limited work tab but hard to ignore these connections in this type of field.

NINTH RACE

SOLDAT’S STORM gets shaky nod in bulky and wire open field of bottom level conditioned claimers on grass. Returns to surface over which he turned in back to back improved tries earlier this season. INDIAN SCHOOL may be cycling back to peak form off latest but must not bounce wheeling back on relatively short rest. LEROI’S GEM obviously a good fit in this company for new barn but must overcome very tough post for the price. Would include for minor awards.

TENTH RACE

LIL B QUICK one of any number of contenders in this wide open dash. Ran very game two back when hard used from the rail disputing pace with several others, doing well to hold on for second money behind runaway winner. Tossing last in slop. Should get a better stalking trip from outside gate today at what may be a square price. SHANG- HAI STARLET likewise did well to hold second money after contesting early issue last time, expect to see her sit off, try to make one run in this spot. AWESOME MASS held own in Sire Stakes at 2, returns for 3yo bow off sizzling gate work. Will have to be at best off bench from tough inside post.

ELEVENTH RACE

SCOTTISH SKY gets shaky nod over EXTRAVAGANT BABY, the two most likely winners in this spot, dropping to the bottom off troubled trip last time. Extravagant B ran well on the main now back to grass and well spotted for a big effort today. CHARMING KID a lightly raced sort, eligible to bounce back off disappointing showing last time.

TWELFTH RACE

OUTRUN ran off setting ridiculous past fresh off the bench in turf bow now absolutely plunges to bottom and perhaps just too quick and classy for this group. EL COMMENDATORE ran well off the bench in much needed sprint outing. Expecting big improvement with that one under belt. SPIRIT LOVE took ridiculous action off the layoff returning at six furlongs on wet track, could not quite withstand early pace duel. Has the speed to perhaps overcome compromising post draw at this distance. Cannot ignore.
