BEST BET: RACE 8, KINGSPORT

FIRST RACE

TAP THE MOJO has worked well, and is bred to be a good one. The son of three-time leading sire Tapit is out of the G1-winning router Pool Land, who produced a stakes-placed debut winner. SANDY BAY closed for second in a good six-furlong maiden special the only time he saw action Dec. 3. COROT came up empty last time in the slop at Churchill. His lone start on the Tapeta was a third behind the future stakes winner Aheadbyacentury in a two-turn tilt.

SECOND RACE

In a field loaded with speed, RED EXPLOSION could parlay a stalking trip into a victory, in her first appearance in six months. QUINN AND TONIC set rapid splits and kept on going to trounce $30K maidens off a long break June 1. MY CANTATA has prepped quickly for an accomplished layoff trainer, and wouldn’t be much of a surprise in her first outing since October.

THIRD RACE

ATHENA’S LEGACY has improved significantly with each subsequent start at the meet, and has found a field that he can handle in this $10K maiden event. His main obstacle might be the mile and sixteenth distance. The comebacker GOLD BACKED ran lukewarm and cold in three maiden special tries at 2, and is plunging in value after working slowly. SHANTY TOWN rallied for third in two of his last three excursions, and is picking up Da Silva.

FOURTH RACE

POST TO POST can fire while fresh, and is bred for the turf, on which she’s worked thrice in recent weeks. She’s a full-sister to the stakes-placed grasser Conquest Dynasty, a recent winner at Gulfstream. Her half-brother, Langstaff, won the Bold Ruckus Stakes on this course. EESTI STAR is by the superb turf sire Silent Name, and could be in the hunt in her first try on the lawn. SILENT RESPECT is another Silent Name filly, and the firsttimer has worked decently. Use her underneath in the exotics, along with CONQUEST BAD GIRL, who had a troubled trip in her latest.

FIFTH RACE

SLYDINI has worked fast, and is bred to be precocious on the dam’s side. SYLLABLE closed threewide for second in her debut. The half-sister to Queen’s Plate favorite Telekinesis could be more prominent with blinkers on. SOUL PLANET has been working bullets, and is by a good debut sire. FIREY AND GORGEOUS broke outward before checking in fourth in her opener.

SIXTH RACE

CRUMLIN SPIRIT lost all chance last time when she got bumped at the break in the Ballade Stakes, from which runner-up Code Warrior exited to take the G3 Hendrie. She’s moving out to the distance of both of her wins in the third start of her form cycle, and is overdue for a photo session. NIIGON’S LEGACY gave way late to a future N1X winner after leading the way in an identical spot off a fourmonth absence May 5. TRINI BREWNETTE should be a factor on the cutback from a route to seveneighths. The 5yo hasn’t found the mark since her 2yo campaign.

SEVENTH RACE

COURT VERDICT wired $10K maidens on the Tapeta when taking an abrupt drop in class May 20. He could do the same in this $20K NW2 dash

on the grass, which he’s bred to handle. HOLYSNAPENEYEBALLS beat $20K maidens at 14-1 in his latest on the main track, and the son of top turf sire Artie Schiller probably won’t mind the surface change. WALL STREET WOLF placed in both of his grass outings last year. Consider him for the lower rungs of vertical bets, along with another comebacker, ABSOLUTE.

EIGHTH RACE

After a tardy start and a four-wide trip, KINGSPORT wound up fourth in his season debut in the allowance prep for the G2 Eclipse, behind two-time Canadian champion older male Are You Kidding Me and millionaire Melmich. He’s meeting easier in the OS stakes, and was victorious with a 96 Beyer in a similar spot in the Dec. 2 Sir Barton Stakes. MR HAVERCAMP ran some monster races last year at 3, which made him a Sovereign Award finalist. He won at first asking last summer on the Tapeta, but turf might be his preferred surface. NIPIGON finished third in this event last year, behind the peaking winner KEEN GIZMO. Use both of them in the tri and super.

NINTH RACE

FLORIDA WON closed from off slow fractions on a speed-favoring track to finish a lapped-on second when returning to the local scene in a $40K seller. He was claimed then, and the classy stakes winner should make his presence felt in this second-level optional claimer. KEEP QUIET is a wild card in his first synthetic track excursion. The grass expert from Kentucky has been working fast on the Tapeta. AURORA WAY is adding blinkers off a dull fourth as the favorite. Use him in the exotics, along with GUY CABALLERO.

TENTH RACE

DAKOTA DIVA awaited room early in the stretch before rallying for third in her commendable seasonal bow May 25. AMBITIOUS MOON is going on Lasix after edging out the top pick for second then. ONE MOMENT IN TIME was in decent turf form at Gulfstream before ending up third on the Tapeta May 4. SHOW GIRL is another worthy contender.
