BEST BET: RACE 1, SUPERDUPER SKY

-

FIRST RACE

SUPERDUPER SKY raced against a speed bias when fourth in the allowance prep for the G3 Trillium Stakes May 21. That was her first outing in two months, and it should set her up nicely for this second-level optional claimer. CRUMLIN QUEEN cleared the NW3 OS allowance condition and an N1X in her two starts in May. She should be prominent if she stays in the zone. Contreras is 2 for 3 at the meet for this live barn. NEW SENSATION is jumping up off a NW3 triumph, and isn’t out of her league from a Beyer perspective.

SECOND RACE

MISS G NOTE faded in the final sixteenth after racing prominently in a six and a half-furlong sprint June 2. The cutback to five furlongs should be suitable for her, and she could lead all the way under Johnson, who was aboard for her victory in a $32K maiden dash May 12. HATCH GATE tracked the leaders along the inside en route to a runner-up placing in the aforementioned June 2 event. That was her first start in about six months, and note that Attfield has impressive stats second-time off a layoff. TOMATO BISQUE rallied from five lengths in arrears to topple $32K maidens in her sixfurlong comeback, and could hit the ticket.

THIRD RACE

After a prep at Gulfstream, RIKER had everything his own way up front when crushing $8K stock here April 28. The classy 5yo showed nothing over a speed-favoring track in a subsequent $10K starter, but could wire this $8K field while moving out to a distance he can handle. THUNDER POINT has a seven-furlong tightener under his girth. Note that all six of his wins came over this distance, including back-to-back scores under Hernandez in the fall. The durable veteran TH ORIGINAL SCOTTY could be along to pick up some of the pieces, while getting some class relief for his third start of the meet.

FOURTH RACE

ROCKBARTON is plunging from OS/$40K maiden company following a sabbatical, and doesn’t have much to beat in this $16K maiden tilt. His trainer has had a productive spring, and is putting the blinkers on the 4yo, who’s been working fast on the training track. FORESTER’S FORUM is moving up off a $9.5K claim while experimenting on the grass, and should be a speed threat. SILENT CONTEMPT is by the successful turf sire Silent Name. The first-time gelding is donning blinkers, and has been prepping fast for his comeback. BOSTON TURK is out of a grass winner.

FIFTH RACE

MISGUIDED PASSION beat three next-out winners when graduating for $8K in a seven-furlong sprint May 11. The closer is a bit light on Beyers in this $10K NW2 contest, but could be along in time if she continues to improve. MEGALIN CANDY displayed hanging tendencies while placing in each of her last five outings, and isn’t worth playing on top at a chalky price. PRINCESS MACY is dropping from $20K NW2 company to where her speed could make her an impact player. GIZMO’S DESTINY is descending from that same level, and could rebound while going from turf to the Tapeta.

SIXTH RACE

FLASHY TRIAL was softened up in a speed duel in a recent $16K turf sprint. The gray/roan is halving in price, and should do some damage in this five-furlong Tapeta dash with Da Silva back in the saddle. TEIAIAGON came up empty after being sent up to a forward position on a speed-biased track last time at Fort Erie. The professional maiden has done his optimum running from off the pace, a style which could enable him to crack the top
