BEST BET: RACE 8, WEEKEND MISCHIEF

FIRST RACE

BRIGHT VENEZUELAN back to her favorite surface after a wide trip last time. Should catch enough pace to run down at her best. FALLEN LEAF in dangerous hands off the claim and speed of the speed in this spot but has been in this category a long time without seeing the winner’s circle. FLASHNDYNAMITE drops, shortens up off very dull performance first off the claim. Should come running at the end.

SECOND RACE

MANTLE has shown promise in the a.m. right from the start and well drawn outside to launch career. Tabbing board for further clues but suspect this one may be a runner. DEPUTY CZAR will stand some beating with the experience edge exiting huge effort behind Mantle’s stable mate Smash Williams who had to work hard to beat this one as a 2-5 favorite. WINCHESTER LIMIT looks best of the Nicks duo off a.m. works although River Front is out of the $2.5 million earning, multiple G1 winner Havre de Grace. Inherent out of a sire who has not had much success with debut types. Expect improvement returning at 3.

THIRD RACE

WHO’S YOUR DRAMA exits near career best performance from a Beyer standpoint and taken to score right back in current form if getting any help up front with JUST THE FACTS. The latter also coming off huge try behind red hot Appa despite extended pace duel. Might be long gone if able to clear off early from BIG POSSIBLE.

FOURTH RACE

SOLVE returned quick dividends off the claim and an old classy sort capable of springing the upset with another forward move. KING POWER no match for PHISH FAN in a race that seems a bit suspect from a Figure and final time standpoint, especially after runner-up Dizzy Gillespie regressed a long way off his second place finish when returning Sunday. K P could reverse that outcome if able to relax at all on the front end. Phish Fan improved 23 Beyer points over what looks like a preferred wet track and perhaps vulnerable at much shorter price today.

FIFTH RACE

SUPER G SIX caught a monster at first asking, was not badly beaten for 2nd money debuting under a $50K tag now plunging down class ladder to a much softer spot. Gaffalione stays. One more chance with these. DUKE OF MIAMI ran well off the bench behind 2/5 Pletcher winner and dropping another notch off the effort. One to fear. BOATS GILHOOLEY working lights out for new conditioner at PM. Might be worth tossing in at a little price.

SIXTH RACE

NIKKI’S CAUSE a four time winner exiting Beyer topper and far and away the best of this bunch with anything close to her top showing. MINESHAFT MADNESS likely the best alternative for those siding against favorite dropping to more suitable spot after being over-matched first out vs. winners. ELIZABETH’S VOW has finished in the trifecta in each of her last five starts, should be along for a minor share once again despite the slight price hike.

SEVENTH RACE

TELESA a win machine well spotted second off the layoff and a solid showing behind repeat winner in her last. MY COTTON ROSE second best behind 6/5 Cowtown Spirit under similar conditions last month. May prove best of rest. COLORINCOLONEL did not have the cleanest of trips when dropping back with this kind last time.
