BEST BET: RACE 3, YOU’RE MINE FIRST RACE

BEAR’SWAY set fast fractions on a clear lead before getting nailed on the line by a longshot in a recent $32K seller. He figures to wire this group of $25K claimers at a short price, in his second outing of the year. BEAR AT LAST is coming off a wide fourth behind the top pick in his second race off the bench. Leading rider Hernandez picks up the mount on the steady 6yo. SEEKING THE BAY is dropping off a fade job in his seven-furlong season opener, a race he seemingly needed.

SECOND RACE

STORMFUHR has been knocking on the door in allowance company. The son of Langfuhr seems poised to break through switching from turf to the Tapeta here in his third start back from the sidelines. Off a flat third going long, DAVKA is turning back to what might be his ideal distance, seveneighths, which he’s yet to negotiate. After getting away slowly, HOOCHIECOOCHIE SAM was hardridden for fifth last time in a slow-paced sprint.

THIRD RACE

YOU’RE MINE saved ground on the turn before closing wide from off sleepy fractions to finish a clear second June 2. That was her first outing in five and a half months, and it should set her up nicely for this longer second-level optional claimer, in lane 1. JUENESSE DOREE beat entrylevel allowance types in a recent optional claimer going about seven and a half furlongs around two turns at Gulfstream. GALILEO GAL came charging along the inside from off a quick pace to capture a June 10 N1X on the lawn. The blue-blooded daughter of Galileo has since worked well on the Tapeta.

FOURTH RACE

ALTERNATE TRUTH owns many of the highest Beyers on the page, which were earned in offthe-board finishes in maiden special and $40K company. The drop to $16K should make him a major player, with Patrick Husbands taking over. PUZZLING KITTEN is a wild card in his debut. The shipper’s lack of Tapeta works is a negative, but he’s bred to run long, and Hernandez has the mount. HAZY DAVY is getting some class relief for his second try off a $20K claim. Use him in the lower rungs of the exotics, along with another longtime maiden, MONETARY SYSTEM, who’s dropping immediately off a $19K claim.

FIFTH RACE

LADY BRIE tracked the leaders along the inside before checking in third behind two sharp rivals when switching to the grass for her third start off the shelf June 6. She’s halving in value from $40K to $20K in this conditioned contest, and merits top billing with Hernandez retaining the mount. LILLIE’S ANSWER was competitive in both of his turf outings against tougher during the spring, and should be in the hunt with Sutherland back aboard. KATE’S WHISTLE came close to clearing the first allowance condition in her June 17 seasonal bow at Fort Erie. SAVANNAH ROXANNA benefited from a slow pace and a speed bias when second in her latest. She’s not bred for the grass.

SIXTH RACE

ROSEMERE is turning back off a close third going long, from which the runner-up exited to romp in another N1X with a 72 Beyer. She’s unbeaten in two seven-furlong starts, both in Ontario-sired company, and is an excellent fit in this sevenfurlong OS stakes. WITHOUT A DOUBT missed the board in both of her outings in the spring, but her last race contained three next-out winners, and she could wake up on the stretchout from threequarters. ZESTINA missed the break before rallying for third when trying the turf for the first time May 26. She was previously in fine Tapeta form.

FAIRY HILL had everything her own way up front in each of her last two races, most recently when fourth in the Woodbine Oaks.

SEVENTH RACE

HOLLOW POINT wasn’t up to snuff last time after a wide trip, when making his local debut on the Tapeta. The Casse charge was previously in solid turf form at Keeneland and the Fair Grounds, and should take some beating in this NW3 OS allowance/$40K claimer. BAKERSFIELD rode a speed bias in an easy victory over $10K NW2 stock last time on the Tapeta. His lone turf excursion came over yielding ground, so he probably deserves a mulligan. GASCONADE closed furiously from far off suicidal fractions to prevail in a recent $20K NW2 turf sprint. DECISIONSDECISIONS has been working right along.

EIGHTH RACE

CUATTHEFINISHLINE came from third over a speed-favoring track to crush $20K maidens on debut June 3—the third-place finisher came right back to take an OS maiden special at Fort Erie (47 Beyer). She can double up in this $20K NW2 tilt. KALLAN was squeezed at the break before finishing a distant fifth for $40K in her latest. She’s descending to a new low with the capable bug Fukumoto taking over. AFLEET DOLL lost her rider just after the start last time in her first try off a $19K claim. She’s a prospect for the bottom of vertical wagers, along with LADY BELLA.
