BEST BET: RACE 11, CANOOCHEE

FIRST RACE

BEAU JANGLES came back after six months off to be a fine 2nd in a race just like this here May 5. He was then more than doubled in value for a June 3 race here but had a terrible start and was never involved. He returns to the level of his fine May 5 performance and a return to that form can get the job done. DREAMING OF NENO has been a warrior for a long time. Hey, you don’t win 16 times by accident. The 9yo showed with three strong May outings there’s still ample gas in the tank. He gave way last time out at DEL June 14 but was racing for twice this tag. This is a better level. GREAT LOU looked good winning a race like this here June 10 and could be tough again. He’s an 11-time winner (3 for 6 here) so he knows where the wire is.

SECOND RACE

INCONVENIENT FACTS was no factor in her debut at GP Feb. 14 but the daughter of More Than Ready cost $260K so you know there were some expectations here. She’s been freshened since by Brown, who continues his superb work. It’s nice to see no drop, too. DIG DEEPER chased the pace while a bit rank in her first try on turf at GP March 23 and stayed on well despite traffic issues to be a closeup 5th (beaten just 1 1/2 lengths). She’s been freshened since and has worked well. She’s kin to two turf winners including Mendip (6 wins, $895K, 4 SWs including a G2 and 2 G3s in Dubai) and Paddle Board (4 wins, 3 on turf, $101K, G2 SP on turf). SWEET OFFER has shown turf talent, though this is her first start in almost eight months. She’s a full to Sidney’s Candy (7 wins, $1.1 million, 2 turf wins including 2 G2s, also G1 SP on turf) and Sweet Swap (7 wins, 6 on turf, $413K, 2 SWs on turf including a G3, also G3 SP on turf).

THIRD RACE

DOUBLE DOWN DONNA has really blossomed in recent months. After a sharp 2nd here May 13 she blasted $7,500 foes here June , was claimed, then blasted $12,500 foes here June 10 and was claimed back by Sacco. Not only is it a great sign he took her back, but he now puts here where he can’t lose her via another claim. MISSCHIEF MAAS had done some of her best work here (3 of her 6 wins) and drops for her return. She figures to be coming. TIZ SUPER has, like the top pick, come into her own in recent months with two big claiming wins. She’s doubled in value for this, a most encouraging sign.

FOURTH RACE

Tough to get a handle on this race but SUGARCOATED KITTEN may rate the nod. The daughter of 2yo champ Macho Uno has shown some talent on turf and that work came s. more expensive. Her June 15 try was also her first action in three months so having that run under her belt and today’s drop may do the trick. MO MADDNES was right in the thick of it to midstretch at this level here June 9 but was then no threat to a big winner in the final furlong. That winner promptly came right back to win and this gal showed some heart by holding on for 2nd. MOXIE MOMENTUM was no factor at any point in her debut at TAM March 25 but you can always be forgiving about a first run. That also came vs. straight maidens. She drops and gets blinkers.

FIFTH RACE

ACCUSING seems to like it here. In his first local try he beat maidens May 19, then in his first try vs. winners here June 9 he was a sharp 2nd (and well clear of 3rd) for $20K June 9. Synnefias claimed

him that day and is not only superb off the claim (2 for last 3, 67%) but it’s a great sign he brings this guy back in a spot where he can’t lose him via another claim. MR MCGINTY opened up early in a turf route here June 16 but then ran up the white flag turning for home. He’s back to dirt, which has to help, and it’s encouraging they do not again risk him for a tag. RIDE ON FAITH may have turned the corner. The $200K son of Candy Ride, who was risked for just one-tenth that last time out at BEL May 26, broke through to blast maidens. He faces winners for the first time and trainer Nick does not again risk him for a tag.

SIXTH RACE

BURNING WILD was knocking on the door from the end of last year into this spring. He’s been freshened, a prime move for trainer Navarro, and has worked well. He’s just 2 for 77, yes, but both wins came on turf and 19 2nds and 12 3rds show he’s done some running. BEST SURPRISE set the pace vs. tougher at BEL May 10 before tiring some late. He came here June 9, moved to this level and gamely prevailed so he appears to have found his proper level and apparently likes it here. BEN OF THE BRIDGE may be 0 for 8 on turf but he ran well to be 2nd on this course for this price June 9 so he’s not out of his element.

SEVENTH RACE

SILVER MAJORETTE has done most of her best work here (3 of her 4 wins). She found $10K foes a bit too much to handle at DEL June 6 but she then came here June 17, dropped to this level and got back on track to be a good 2nd, finishing 6 lengths clear of 3rd. She may be sitting on a win. DON’T TELL VANESSA made her first start in over five months in a race like this here June 2, stalked the pace and stayed on well for 2nd, finishing over 6 lengths clear of 3rd. She handles this place well (5-2-2-1) and with that June 2 run under her belt may be the one to beat. SHESGOTTHEMOVES comes here sharp from PEN, having won her last two starts there. She’s won 12 times so she knows how to get the job done, though this is her first venture away from her PEN base in a long time.

EIGHTH RACE

TREASURY STOCK, an MTO, hails from the everdangerous Chad Brown barn and comes into this with the most important drop in the game, a move with which Brown has had much success (10 for last 25, 40%). He didn’t do much in his debut here May 28 but obviously that came vs. tougher. He likely wouldn’t mind getting a shot at a bunch of grass horses playing on his footing. Should this stay on SO HOT figures the one to beat as he ran on well to be 2nd in his first try on turf which came here at this level June 10. BOUND BI LUCK showed speed and ability on turf last summer. After a long layoff (nine months) he didn’t do much on GP sod June 6 but as noted he was dealing with a layoff and all his work has come vs. more expensive. He can benefit from that outing and today’s drop, and a smart work here June 22 encourages.

NINTH RACE

EVIL MONKEY continues to trend north. After 2 good 2nds vs. NJ-bred N1X foes here in May he easily beat such rivals here June 17. His Beyers continue to go up and it looks as though he’s ready for this class hike. DIAL OPERATOR won his first two starts in impressive fashion, enough so that he earned a shot at the G3 Gotham at AQU March 10. Well, that didn’t go so well but he’s been freshened since, drops, returns to sprinting and gets blinkers for a trainer having a huge meet. LUCKY

SIX is also entered in a $25K claimer here Saturday. He comes off some good races and should they opt for this tougher nd spot instead of that Saturday race that would be a thumbs-up.

TENTH RACE

MISS MONK showed speed and talent in her first three starts, all on turf. In her last outing at BEL May 24 she pressed the pace but weakened from those efforts, but that was a tough spot. It was also her first run in two months and first with blinkers. She’s worked well sine and might be set for her best. She’s kin to two turf winners including Cloontia (4 wins, all on turf, $240K) and the very smart Wicked Strong (3 wins, $1.9 million, 2nd in only turf try which was a stakes, won G1 Wood, won a G2, had 6 SPs including 3 G1s). NO

TRESPASSING ran into a big winner in her dirt sprint debut at LRL March 17 but kept to her task decently to finish 4th. She hasn’t run since but has worked steadily and being by Street Cry should handle turf no problem (he’s the sire of the world’s top-rated horse, Winx, who runs on turf in Australia). She’s kin to Guts and Glory (5 wins, all on turf, $135K), Lookin at Lucky (9 wins, $3.3 million, multiple G1 SW, multiple champion) and Kensei (5 wins, $751K, multiple GSW and GSP). PRETTI

TRICKI showed speed in her first two starts, both dirt sprints. Her two sibs are both turf winners. TURLINGTON ran well in her debut in slop here May 13. She may like turf as she’s kin to two turf winners including Dark Artist (4 wins, 3 for 4 on turf, $141K, SW on turf).

ELEVENTH RACE

CANOOCHEE ran splendidly in her straight maiden debut here June 10, pressing the pace and taking the lead into the lane before succumbing to a nice winner. That shows she has talent, she’s worked well since and the drop is the clincher. SASSY CHUB likewise ran well in her straight maiden debut here, pressing the issue before finishing 2nd, and like the top pick takes the most important drop in the game. The big difference is this girl’s debut was last Aug. 27 so there’s a long layoff to overcome. JERSEYMOOSEISLOOSE ran on well for 2nd in a race just like this here June 3 so she fits.
